Leves ranking downFollow

So this is an odd bug, I asked my LS if anyone else has seen it happen but they haven't. I get a great crafting leve for my level, say rank 20 or 25 as I'm BSM20 (yay marks, right!?) and after I find the NPC for the materials (this only happens on leves that require NPC interaction for me) I get a down-ranked version of the leve. Say I get Ship Shape, requiring Iron Nails, I go and talk to H'ranblahblah ***** Miqote names!) and when I start up the leve it's turned into a rank 15 leve for Bronze Nails. This has happened to me 5 times in the last week. I haven't seen anything on the forums about it, but was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue happen to them. It's very disheartening when I should have a leve giving me 150-250 more SP a shot, plus a better chance at marks (one would hope).

Anyone?

Ok I bet I know whats going on

first off, are you aware that the leve can spawn with the same name, but be a different level and require different materials?

you may be used to seeing one version of it, and then take it not realizing its a different one. I suggest you always closely inspect the leve, regardless of it having the same name.

Did you "exchange" the leve? It's already reported on FFXIV Core.

Listen, I know it sounds odd... but I check the leves religiously. I know for a certain fact that the leves in my journal are the level I think they are. I pay close attention because I'm at the rank that I can start picking up marks and I am really stoked when I get a good selection of high ranked leves.

I am not confusing them, I realize some have the same name with different rankings. I normally end up holding onto leves past reset, simply due to time restrictions, perhaps it has something to do with that leve popping again (read: I do not swap anything) and the game swaps them for me when I get the mats. I don't know, but I know for certain what I have in my journal and what I end up with after I talk to the NPC.

I bet that has everything to do with it

the fact you hold onto them, and the fact is they respawn every time, always, 100% of the time, just not always as the same level/mats
Somehow I wouldnt doubt it giving you the new version of it instead

Sounds like you did "exchange" the leves. You can only have 8 leves all the time. If you have 1 to 8 leves that belong to past cycle still in your journal and you go up to the counter to get 8 new leves, they will be replaced/"exchanged" and that's where the problem come from.

I do not go to the counter, period. I do not exchange them, for I know that I can complete what I have and get more. It could be an auto-swap, though I don't fully know if every time this happens I hold onto the leve past reset. Even if it is an auto-swap, I still consider it a bug. I am going to check tonight to see if I'm subtracted one of my leves, just in case too.

Wait, so you didn't complete the past leve? As in finished all the synths but didn't hand it in, or at the very least did one synth? If so then yes, they may be automatically "exchanged"/switched to reflect the current leve cycle.

If you pick up a leve that is rank 25 and requires you to pick up mats from <NPC> and you hold on to it past the reset and then when the reset rolls around that leve from the NPC at the counter is the rank 15 version, you get the mats for the rank 15 version of the leve when you pick them up. In future, if you pick up a leve that requires you to get mats from an NPC, go get the mats. It's in the same city. It's never a long run. That's all you need to do. Once you've got them, it doesn't matter what happens after the reset.

I have never seen this posted anywhere, so it wasn't really something I thought of. I realize the run isn't very long, but my playing tendencies are to finish my leves and if I can take more before I log I will just so I don't "lose" them. That leaves me with leves that I don't chase down. Obviously, since this seems to be "known"--though I remain firm that it's very buggy--that I'll just have to get the mats before logging out.

Edit: speeling.

This just happened to me. I went and picked up "A feast fit for an admiral" and BOY was I happy because it was the 1 form of that 1 leve that rewards BLACK PEPPER (which is used in almost everything, drops from almost nothing, is sold by almost no-one, and costs a fortune from the npc).

I -IMMEDIATELY- went to Bango Zango, and got the ingredients, then went to do the leve... HUH? Chicken Stock? This was supposed to be TOMATO SAUCE.

Nope. So lost my one chance (probably for the whole week) to get black pepper for free.

/sigh

OK, so the reset theory is out the window. Looks like a dyed in the wool bug to me. Sorry about your black pepper, man. :(

As I said in the core link, this happened to me with the BSM Ship Shape Leve. For some reason it made me so made at the game that I've not played in a week unless it apologizes...

oh goes both ways I just noticed. As a 22 BSM I swapped in a R15 local leve for a R15 WVR leve that I didn't attempt. After accepting, it's now in my journal as a R35 BSM leve.
