Would you welcome changes to FINAL FANTASY XIV that would drastically alter the rules already set in Eorzea?

With this questions being asked on the Jan 1st poll it just makes me wonder could everything we know be scraped.

One more time...:P No they aren't destroying the game, no they aren't scrapping all the work put into the game and starting over, the game will look and feel a lot like it does now they will just "change the rules". For example, they could turn the battle system into something more akin to FFXI where party play takes front lines (that was an example, I'm not saying they are doing this). If you, for a second, think that they will scrap a lot and start over you're delusional (because I don't wanna call anyone stupid Smiley: tongue). What SE is trying to do now is salvage the game, they aren't going to spend a lot of money on top of what they spent already...if they're going to do that they may as well scrap it altogether and forget about the game, build their repertoire (again) through their offline games and maybe release a new MMO 5/10 years down the road.

this dangerous dangerous question, i think, the new director just thinks he NEEDS to make drastic changes to be able to save this game's rep, i think it's quite generous of him to even ask before he does it.

i voted yes, any improvements in my mind are welcome, even if it means changing core elements of the game.

It's unrealistic from a development standpoint to start over. You can't rebuild a six-year project in a year. They may change some rules that we might find to be totally unexpected, but not enough to revert the game back to an alpha version.

I would welcome such a radical change with open arms. I was once hopeful that FFXIV would be a game I played and enjoyed long into the future. In order to achieve that they might as well just scrap most of it and reboot. I'll be completely honest, I was grinning ear to ear when I heard the news. 90% of it was 'I told you so', but the other 10% was my optimism for FFXIV and the direction of this project being restored.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

I wish the FFXII team made FFXIV.....yea...

EDIT: k let me reword cuz it seems some of you are really touchy about this stuff...I wish FFXIV took place in Ivalice because the lore and history and races and etc., etc., etc. of that world interest me a lot. I think it would've been really cool to have something a little more familiar. I think FFXIV doesn't have any FF flavor, even moogles barely show up apart from storyline which is kind of lame imo plus no chocobos, no airships yet...doesn't feel right.

No, the game will go down if it continues with broken, outdated and sadistic mechanics. If they don't haul *** and start making major changes to the game now, it'll be dead and gone by the end of 2011. At best you'll be able to hope for a cash shop, F2P type MMO.

FFXIV has a major 2nd chance coming up with the PS3 release. Not many MMOs get a second set of reviews and a new audience. They cannot leave FFXIV in its current mangled state for the PS3 release.

going back to alpha isn't that big of a deal considering it never left the beta stage...

Well, I answered no to that question on the poll. Honestly, the only real change I'd like to see is an adjustment to the party sp bonus outside of leves and behests. Right now, I do little to no fighting outside leves and behsets because it's simply not an efficient way to gain skill points. I thoroughly enjoy the other battle mechanics in this game at this point (I rarely craft, and can't stand gathering) and really would not like to see them change. I honestly don't mind the wards at all anymore, I've been able to easily find the gear and weapons I want with few exceptions.

To keep myself from rambling on and on, no I don't want to see huge changes. I would like to see more leves with greater variation, and would like to see the party bonus ajdusted. If those two things happened, I'd be extremely satisfied with the game.

It's not like 6 years of work is wasted... a good deal of that has to have been graphics engine and world design - which certainly won't be scrapped.

In any case, I don't mind a 'NGE' type of change, as long as they figure out some sort of fair formula to port XP/SP to whatever the new system becomes. The only way I wouldn't tolerate major changes is if the time I've put in to the existing game is not honored.

I think the concepts for the mechanics are great (character development, crafting integration, etc.), but the implementation of those mechanics is absolutely terrible. While the current systems are probably salvageable, I think totally gutting them and replacing everything would be a better idea. New construction is a **** of a lot easier and less prone to problems than remodeling, at least from my experience.

So yeah, I'd support a total rework of the game. I look at it this way: They can't ***** the pooch any worse than they did the first time.

SE is in it to make a profit. Right now the game is a lost. They are thinking about the future of the company and not a handful of people playing for free. Loyal fans will stick with SE if, and that is a big IF, they can correct the game to the point where it attracts new players and make the game finacialy viable.

Destroy the game, LMAO.Look around budy. It's been destroyed. They are in recovery and salvage state.

The groundwork is there for all of these things. You see airships overhead, the chocobo master in the cities aren't ready to rent out chocobos, etc. In all due time these things will come, afterall it has only been a couple months since release. Those are the easy things and the things that we all knew would be there. I just don't know why there weren't there on release since they had years to set it up.
