hello I just started playing again today, you know new year and all but I have 2 questions if anyone can help.

first of all I just upgraded to windows 7 64 bit from windows 7 32 bit.

I played FFXIV on the beta and was able to resize the game window, it seems that now I can't change the size of the window is that normal? On a good note I found out that now we can play in full screen.
also the game seems to crash a bit more with windows 7 64 bit has anyone else noticed this?

I personally do crash fairly often. I've been lucky they it hasn't happened during a lev in quite a long while. Some days are worse than others. I've always played in full screen, so I didn't know you couldn't earlier on in development. I wish I knew how to fix this, but I don't unfortunately.

full screen is the best way to play in my opinion, but I love being able to go back and forth from the game and web sites like this one for info on quest and missions

I'm not quite following the question, I guess you're crashing when you try to resize your window on the fly? I had no problems changing my window size through the configuration tool. I currently have mine set to windowed with 1920x1080 resolution. It's not actual full screen but the next best thing and I haven't had any problems so far.

I'm currently running win 7 64 bit also, but I haven't really experienced any crashing. I think since the release I had one application crash. I'm not sure what to say here.

Windows 7 64 bit here too. Running 1920*1080 windowed. It crashes randomly, but not too often. Maybe about once every 10 hours, maybe less. Irritating, but not game breaking. Restarting the game takes less than a minute.

I used to have big problems, that turned out to be strange hardware issue with the graphics card. New card got rid of that.

Make sure that you run the 64 bit version of drivers, and try to minimise the number of background applications like virus checkers.

Also note, if your crash is something on your end such as a router/switch/hub/internet issue you will have to wait a bit to log back in (seems like it takes me about 10 mins when I drop connection to get back on) if its something in the game itself kicking you (like waards crashing while you are in them) you generally can get right back on.

My internet connection can be a little fickle sometimes, and I am finding that XIV is as sensitive to a solid connection as Evony. XI seemed to do a better job of recovering before crash when it was a connection error.

As with all generalities this has not been 100% tested, just a summary of my experiences over the last 3 months of play.

with win7-64 i can resize it with config but i cant grab a corner and drag it to a diff size

Also the game almost never crashes for me. If it does crash and im in a party, i'm usually not the only person who crashed. In other words i don't think i -ever- crash due to using win7-64, but rather crash due to game glitches.

If your disconnecting (not crashing) then its probably because your internet is messed up or you're downloading a torrent or something like that.

I seem to have more crashes in windowed versus fullscreen mode as well. Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate here. Not a big enough deal that I would stop playing in windowed mode, I like being able to multi-task.

Is errors a Win 7 64bit a problem? I bought win 7 professional 64 as the next step in PC upgrades.I had only 3 game shut down errors with XP since launch and those happened when hard drive space got below 50 gigs. I was going to switch this weekend but if there's problems I'll try to set up my first dual boot system with 2 hard drives.

Not to kick a game when it's down, but XIV is the only game I've had issues with that I think are somehow at least partially related to running a 64 bit OS. Windows 7 is solid.

There was a known issue in beta with using Win7 64 or Vista 64. The issue was problems with running a resolution greater than 1080 horizontal (Might have been 1050). I have never seen anything saying the issue was fixed.

again ive been running it on 64bit since beta and haven't had any problems. Its probably your graphics card or something in combination with 64-bit.

this, asside from an occasional crash presumably due to SEs code. They seem farther and farther between after each patch though.
