Should we be able to buy anima?Follow

Simple question: should we be able to spend gil to buy anima? If so, how much gil per point of anima?

I'm thinking an NPC in each city that can help you "spiritually recover" some of your anima in exchange for a fee.

If it was a hefty amount I'd be all for it... say 500k per point, and a limit on how many points per week... Anything that doesn't make you think twice about it's value devalues the current system and totally makes walking irrelevant along with the scenery/world

That would be nice, but it doesn't fit the lore.

I think there should be ways to earn in game guardian favor, and anima, but I'm not sure if gil should be an option.

karma quests to get faster anima and gaurdian favor recovery.

Little quests to do about town to build up your bond with the spirits of the land ;)

This I could go for. Buying anima? not so much.

I like this idea, easy ones could increase regen rate a small amount while harder or longer ones would up the regen rate. And in fine FF style you would lose the regen buff if you didn't continue to do them once in a while (adding... CONTENT! Wheeee :) )

I would assume once they give us other forms of transportation...teleporting and anima will be removed. Going anywhere, whenever you want, dilutes the game a bit. I can see leaving a form a teleportation between cities available at a cost...but why would we need teleport if we can ride and fly everywhere? We didn't in FFXI...

Eh? People made a tidy profit as Tele-Taxis in XI long after Airships and Chocobos

I'm not sure how they'll handle it either, 'cause even if they add Chocobos and Airships tomorrow, I don't think I'd use them at all.

I've already got enough anima to go everywhere I need to go, and I hover between 35-60 anima doing group leves every reset.

I guess having more options is always nice, but with the current anima regeneration rate I can't see myself using anything else, and I already do very little running to get from A to B.

The teleport shouts in XI worked 'cause you couldn't change your job in the field, and only access to WHM36+ spells would let you teleport.

Would any of you use Chocobos on a regular basis if you could use them right now?
Airships are a little easier since you can just board in town (or at the random airship stands on the world map) and go afk for 10mins, but if they're not changing anima costs in any way, I'm more or less set already.

I'm not complaining- it's convenient to be able to move this quickly. I do miss having to run through the scenery once in a while though. And home points being few and far between added a sense of danger for me ._.; (and gave Raise a purpose!).

Buy anima with gil? No. But buying anima with some other feature? Sure. This could easily be a use for "bonus exp", especially since the players most likely to earn bonus exp are the ones likely to run out of anima. Perhaps the story based quests should reward anima, or some other non-repeatable quests. I could see anima buyable with guild marks too.

I'm all for multiple options, but gil is way too easy to earn. Buying anima with gil essentially removes the need for any other form of transportation. Ever.

Quests for Anima would be pretty cool, to limit them they could tie it to your leve limit so you could choose to rank up or get your taxi juices recharged.

I don't think we should be able to buy anima, but I would agree with tweaking the regeneration rate and having some repeatable attunal quest or something that allows anima to come back once a week or something.

$5 for 100 anima.

But in all seriousness, they could just offer teleport scrolls that you can purchase with say faction points.

[quote=TheonVenethiel500k per point? o_O[/quote]

Well the OP said Gil, I didn't want to derail with a repeatable quest idea... but we have and IF there was a way to obtain Anima I'd rather it was a quest on a repeatable timer to limit how much you could get.

BTW @500k per point you would limit the purchasing to hardcore players, those who more than likely use up all of their Anima. As a casual player, I come close but never run out. So I don't have the time to come up with funds for such a thing, but maybe if it was really important to some one or they had gil to blow...

I just think if it was cheap then it would in turn cheapen the games world. When they impliment alternate travel options, if people are still running out of anima because they can't wait for a 5 minute flight or don't have the patience for a 10-15 minute choco ride, well then charge the crap out of them for the convenience.

It would be nice to have something temporary until they implement alternate modes of transportation, then remove it. It's annoying that I am usually always so low on anima because I have to teleport to and from places like Camp Broken Water just to have a chance at some guild marks for crafting. =/

Add it as a reward for Hamlet Defense along with guild marks for a job you select.

I think buying anima is a no brainer tbh. What could be a better gil dump. They could make it fairly expensive, so it doesn't get abused.

Or perhaps an npc that casts a spell on you for like 500k that increases your anima regen for a day or two.

I think 20k per point is reasonable. So about 2,000,000gill to get to 100anima sound reasonable to me.

Right now taxi to city cost about 20-30k on my sever.

I like another crafters idea to tie anima and guardian favour to hamlet defense quests.
Also there should be monetary quests where you can offer gil to different factions or npc's about the towns
to help them with certain tasks. In return you can earn karma or other quest items to use for anima regen, guardian favour regen, items to temp boost sp.

These are simple things that add breath to the game and was very successful in XI and would have been a great content and fun addition to XIV. I do not under stand why so much from their original MMO was not utilized . . . That was off point it just got me thinking.

But yes I am looking forward to things like hamlet defence+behest for sp. The opening of Ishgard and other stuff.

I do feel for the hardcore players last night I played for 9 hours and blew through 25 anima getting around to the three different city wards.

I suppose being able to spend leftover Crysta from the payment system wouldn't be a -terrible- idea if you could refresh your anima for 1 crysta or something.

I mean sometimes you have 1-2 leftover ...

However that just encourages more self teleportation. I'd kind of like to see Teleports brought back in the form of spells where all it costs is MP.

They could reduce tele-taxies by having it cost a lot of MP (which you could then immediately get back at the aetheryte you teleport to but on a 10 minute timer) if it cost like 250 MP or something. I'm not a fan of tele taxies but I definitely like players to be able to teleport without using this anima crap.

I was going to post almost the same thing.
Although I'm ok with tele taxies, it's a good way to make a little money while helping people out. I don't like adding SE-based RMT to the game but what else is crysta used for lol. Anima is precious :D

The trick to teleports is to be in a linkshell and always be like "I don't have any anima you tele" and it works 99% of the time :D

They should make Inn's usable. Pay a small fee for a room and while you are logged out in an Inn you regain 1 point of anima every 2 hours instead of 1 point every 4 hours.

Fits the lore and is a decent enough increase for those who are in need of it.

Buy a set amount with anima between two crystal and you can unlimited solo warp between them for one real life day or make it like the boat pass to the island in FF11.SE is paying people to sit in rooms to think up stuff like this, they'll come around eventually."solo warp is so RMTs cant camp crystals at a profit"

@Perrino - Some of us casual players use up anima quickly too. I'm doing leves for BTN and CON, and going back and forth between all three cities adds up. I do what I can, and do all the leves for Gridania at once and the like. But the anima doesn't re-gen fast enough for simple trips for leves. Plus, keep in mind that by charging an exorbitant about of gil for something everyone wants is likely, if not guaranteed, to increase demand for RMT. Which we definitely don't want.

On that note, I'm all for finding a way to increase anima. But in a non-exchangeable way. Repeatable quests, factions, etc...all are good options.

Maybe give the conj a spell that would replenish anima. Then in towns people will shout anima 10k instead of Holla.

I think this is a great idea. Inns were there from the first Final Fantasy and it would force people to log out in Inns which is not always possible so people wouldn't always sit at 100 anima.
