Ok, I don't know of a better place to post this, so if its in the wrong forum, I'm sorry!

but I just got really excited, you see we have been killing the NM's and holding the drops till our crafters are high enough to craft the gear for several weeks now. Tonight one of our members Soldier Zerg crafted himself 2 Bloody Birdiche, from the bloody axe heads (off the great buffalo) and he +1d one of them!

I must admit, the crafting system might seem dull to level, but when it comes down to trying to make items at 50, its nerve wrecking! Especially when you are trying to HQ something important! I held my breath as it was being made. So much work went into the NM kills, the collecting of HQ materials, and even his hard work in leveling up so that he could synth them.

We spent time tonight before the synth repairing his gear, taking a few shots at HQing a few more of the mats, porting out to Limsa for guild support and even getting him the right food to eat for synthing them.

I just had that moment when the game felt "Final Fantasy" to me. I remember in 11 that epic moment when you had worked for weeks to get black belt materials, or abjurations dropped, or even finally got your AF gear. It all lead up to getting that item you wanted so much, that was so rare and so useful.

This was one of those moments.

So, I hope that for the community's sake, they provide more content so that everyone can enjoy the feeling. The game needs more moments like this. It needs more unique gear, more NMs and NM drops that all players can access, and it needs some love, but if any of the content is anything like what I finally got to experience, its going to rock.

I am only sorry that it took so much time and work getting to 50 and killing NM's and finding mats to get this feeling.

So, Here's to hopeing! (Tomorrow is our Dodore Doublets!)

We waited for our own linkshell crafters, not server crafters.

We really only consist of about 20 members.

Kinda looks like you have a cat poking out the top of your axe.

Its kind of amusing that I am one of the strong supporters of this game on a FFXIV fan website and am getting rated down for posting constructive threads.

Don't worry too much about getting rated down, there's always a couple morons running around threads rating people down, I'm sure this post will get blown into oblivion, who cares, the green name, red name, blue names does it really matter? all that matter is that you're LS member has a pretty **** cool axe :P. I was just playing the first part of Rank 26 mission where you do a sort of fetch quest for the Syphyls (spelling?) and as much as I love and always look forward to the next bit of storyline, I hate how they mapped out the quests. It seems like, because they wanted crafters to be able to just craft, they made the quests freakin dull. I want them to make things more "in your face" action, it'd be funner...the quests lose some epicness to them...(you just reminded me of this because you were talking about crafters and because you said they need to give you more of *those moments* and I agree with you, I think the game will get better, I hope its not a case of too little too late though).

Wait till you do r30 Goldsmith or r30 Carpenter quests, you get to use the Spriggan/NPC as your summon >_> and battle other poke- er mobs.

Nah, it's not because of the crafters, it's just dull & easy. Even the DoW/DoM class quests(that can't be blamed on crafters) are like that. Though that doesn't mean some of the cutscenes aren't pretty badass, the actual carrying out of the quests is lacking in the fun deparment. Mostly it's a lot of walking...

You ****** people off by telling them that SP isn't broken, you're more than likely being Karma camped. Luckily I find most of your posts enlightening/informative as I'm sure do plenty of others. Ignore the color of your name on this forum. I know it's hard, I fail to ignore it from time to time... but generally I only get ****** when people default folks who anser questions and stay on topic just because said post goes against the grain.

We're getting old and the internet mentality is drasticly and quickly changing.

Congratulations on making the items.... but what is so "Final Fantasy" about this? I don't recall any other of the series (outside of FFXI) being so utterly driven on RNG to get rewarded.

The fact that the RNG rolled into your favor? That's hardly what I would call quality, engaging content :\ If this is the type they offer us, I'd call it more stalling than something truly inspiring.

There are things you can do to influence quality.

For example, Sublimation and other R40 skills greatly influence quality, which tips the RNG in your favor. Clean Slate, though broken for retrying your synth (durability AND quality stay the same while progress resets), it is helpful from a quality standpoint. Weaver skills, Immersion and Masterpiece, are also very good for quality.

It may seem like RNG to you, but there are a plethora of things you can do to tip the RNG into your favor.

HQ mats, Crafting skills, Gear, Crafting food, Bold instead of normal synths as often as is possible without breaking the item.. etc..

There is a lot more than you think if you try.

Edit: 15 synths and we got a +1 Tricorne as well ^^

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v252/Smiley7890/Tricorne1.jpg

No HQ on the 5 dodore doublets we made today though. The synths were tough =(

Double Edit:

I am absolutely making a battle regimen video soon. My G35 headset sh*t the bed, so my new one is on its way ^^

Yeah there are definately times I set out to HQ an item and if I've done my homework it often happens. It happens occaisionally just due to RNG but with finished items with a high quality score and touch up - I definately feel like the odds are pretty good on HQ items if you know what you are doing.

Like I mean when I made +3 Fish Oil I fairly much expected to deliver on a fair number of HQ items - and so far very little I've made with it has failed to HQ.

Awesome Doc! That's what it's all about. A team effort with a long term goal, leading to a shared victory.

HQ victory at that!

Thanks for sharing. Stories like this make me excited to reach Rank 50.

Ok I generally don't take notice of what people say but seriously "what the ****" lol.

Killing a roaming buffalo, holding onto its drop for 3 weeks, and crafting a +1 is not final fantasy. If anything that's D&D.

Killing the Final Fantasy XI Dragon to get past rank 3 was Final Fantasy. Killing the Shadow Lord, Promathia, Alexander, those are final fantasy. Using summons is final fantasy.

Killing Doblyns and Coblyns and Goats is FFXIV.

That is all, thank you.

It'd be nice to have a general chat so players could talk about this kind of thing there. I mean, I'd like to hear about it if it's happening on my server but I have no way of knowing.

Try posting this in your server forum?

http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/28188-manipulation-or-more-training/

Based on Lux's post, I don't think skills like Sublimation or Manipulation are worth it any more after the Nov patch.

Quote:
About Manipulation...yeah.... I had Manipulation prior to the last update and I absolutely loved it. I made a post about it on this Goldsmith forum. However, since the patch I truely feel it should be a low priority on your list of things to purchase with guild marks. Even with max possible DEX (207) you will only see 2-5 extra quality per swing with Manipulation active. So after 3 swings with Manipulation, if you had success on all 3 swings, you "might" get 15 more quality from Manipulation. Sure, it's a small bonus and might help slightly...but meh ><

And HQ is very random, read Lux's comment on HQ Jadeite on YG lol.

I see all this congratulations on +1/2 gear, but what is really the point of it in this game? Is there some hidden trait? The stats all say they're the same. Unless I've horribly missed something, doesn't that just mean you've got a bit extra durability, but you need someone 5/10 ranks above what you would normally need to repair it? The only other bonus I know of would be if you used the equipment as an ingredient in another craft, it would bring up durability and quality.

The damage, crit and accuracy on a +1 +2 +3 item is HUGE. Somewhere in the lines of +10% PER stat PER HQ.

So effectively his +2 axe does about 20% more damage than the normal version.

Not sure its +10%, from what I recall its +5% per +1. I made myself a +2 R47 BSM hammer and noticed a +7 to all stats to confirm and a +3 R37 offhand, pretty happy with that :)

The game has only been released for a few months, so in the devs defense, which I won't do often, endgame content like that having that FF feel seems to be right. I would just like to have that "feeling" for some of the midgame stuff atm.
