New Nvidia drivers as of Jan 04/11.Follow

#1 Jan 04 2011 at 1:16 PM Rating: Excellent
Nvidia has released some beta drivers, 266.35. Haven't actually installed them yet, and there doesn't seem to be much mention about Final Fantasy XIV on the main page details. Never know though, might get some performance increase.

The link above is for my GTX 460 series, so obviously do a search for whatever card you own.

Not seing any fixes that should affect XIV directly, but ya never know. I lost my testing data when I changed HDDs recently so I can't do an accurate comparison this time around :(

Seems the 265.90 Quadro drivers are still better than these for most people, especially those with low GPU usage problems and SLI. For other systems, performance looks to be about the same.

Doubtful you'll ever see any nVidia driver updates specifically address improvements to FFXIV. To be honest, if Team Green took the time to develop drivers aimed at improving XIV they'd be doing more work than the devs do improving XIV... sad, but true.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

Wrong on both counts, the last drivers I installed mentionned FFXIV improvements and whats with the little swipe? The game is significantly improved in the last two updates, have people forgotten already??

I'll be installing these tonight but dont expect to see anything noticeable. if anyone benchmarks and does thorough testing they might but thats just because an update should surely make it ... better ? I'm on GTX460

Minor playtime with the drivers... as I said I don't have my refrence files any more, so all I can go off of is FPS in certain situations and my old posts on the subject.

No improvement, no issues, no reason not to just wait for the official WHQL drivers (especially if you play Battlefield as supposedly this and the "stolen" beta drivers have issues with the game).

As to nvidia supporting the game... well they're still supporting a few ancient titles and quite a few times I've seen hot fixes for titles like Barbies Horse Adventures... I'm pretty sure they'll support this game any way they can. I just don't see them devoting rescources for it until they know what the plans are for the games engine.
