I have been back to the game for a few days now, and have noticed at every camp I go to on Selbina server about 5-10 afk conjurers with scibble names and such. Are these some kind of RMT groups who just happen to be afk all the time? It doesnt seem like they are new players since they are all in the same gear. I didn't bother checking if they were all the same rank though.

I've seen this on occasion and I'm guessing it HAS to be RMT.

My guess is that there's one character out there somewhere completing a leve that they all have, meaning that, upon completion, they can all check the aetherite and get some gil from it as well.

Here's how it works in theory.

1. RMT A starts leve. Rest of RMT sit there, and are probably inactive.
2 RMT A Finishes leve, all collect the gil.
3. RMT B starts leve, rest of RMT sit there, including RMT A.
4. Repeat ad infinitum.

Why do they do it like this? Because they're only paying 1 person to do all the leves and they haven't coded a working leve-bot yet for some reason. There's much better ways for them to use the majority of their manpower, and to be honest they're probably busier hacking accounts than actually using their own manpower to "work" nowadays. That, and they're probably so busy with cleaning out their 9001 hacked WOW accounts per day that they can only spare 1 guy to work on FFXIV farming.
The sad part is I am only halfway-joking about the reasons why they'd do it that way...

Uryuu,

pre-SP patch I believe you didn't have to be near kills to get SP in a party. That could be why they still think it's that way.

As a money making thing... you get 15x the leve reward in gil for 1 persons work. Sounds about right for RMT tactics to me. Minimal effort/cost and high yield.

accept for the fact that if it isn't your leve, the rewards are horrible in comparison. If the leve-starter is getting 20k gil, everyone else is lucky to get 2-3k. I think this is the exact reason as to why. While the extra rmt accounts might make a few thousand extra gil per leve, it is certainly not the most efficient. But then again, RMT are known for razor thin profit margins in games (think consumables market in ffxi), so I guess this makes sense.
