For me, I'm okay with big changes, as long as it doesn't kill off the loyal customers like myself that have stuck through with the game by reseting everything to 0 or not giving at least some credit. If they will do that, then the sooner they announce it or shut down the servers the better rather then stringing along.

Though what i wold like to see is maybe gradual, there are many things I like the stat point allotments, the ability to change jobs on the fly and other things that hate to see lost.

But drastic changes I could live with is, breaking the game up into smaller areas, maybe make each mega zone 2-5 zones about the size of each camp and nearby gate region with more details.

When I read that question, I immediately thought about classes, battle systems and things of that nature. I'm pretty certain they would not 'reset everything to 0'. I expect they want to break a few of their rules to allow some of the changes people are clamoring for.

To be entirely honest I would welcome ANY changes that improved the game. I'd be happy with changes, no matter how big or small, that made the game better.
Q: How many SE employees does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: None, it's working as intended.

I would be ok with changes down to every grass blade in the game to be honest. I would even want them to better pace the story or give us more story (but I doubt this will even be touched)...I don't care if they even start over and reset my character, cuz if they'll make the game fun I'd be more than willing to get those 26 ranks all over again from the beginning but I know a lot of people have put in a lot more time and effort into the game than I have so I doubt they'll do this, but I'd be ok with it if they did.

Just about anything, I'm game for.

I want combat to feel more like real time, rather than feel like an ATB/turn based system.

I want a progression system that doesn't leave me feeling that killing any old thing is the next step.

I want a class system that makes classes more unique, rather than being the same old, just with different sets of weapon skills. I don't care if they do away with the cross class abilities from any class, or remove the weapon theme.

IMO, they have to do something to the battle system to improve party dynamics.

Battle as it stands is complete chaos and I hate it. If you're fighting more than 1 enemy, targeting is a mess and there are hardly any crowd control abilities. There aren't any clear defined roles, no support classes like Bard or Corsair. The closest thing is Lancer...

If party battles weren't so overwhelming it would go a long way to making it fun.

I miss macros I use in FFXI, like /attack <bt>, /assist "NAME" and so on that make group battles much easier to manage.

Honestly, what I'd really like is for this director to analyze what makes an "FF" game.

He said FF7 was his favorite and it sounded like he had some ideas along that line.

I guess I personally feel like Final Fantasy has lost its way. I'm not gonna pinpoint when (in my opinion) for the sake of not derailing into which FFs are better than others - but I do feel that the series has started to fall apart or lose touch with its roots.

They brought in Uematsu to do the soundtrack which is great. I love what he's done - especially Coerthas and various battle themes.

I really hope the director brings a fresh perspective on what it means to be a Final Fantasy and then implements it into 14. (I wish someone did that to 13 as well). We have some staples like summon monsters and chocobo/airship/moogle. There's a job system that works rather well. I'd be okay with any huge overhaul if it improved the game and added some more "FF" flair to the game.

I think its easy to trace a line through the FF series and see how things have evolved or changed into new worlds, new graphics and new battle systems. I think XIV kind of shatters that evolution right now. It feels like FFXI with a brand new battle system and switching jobs on the fly. I'd really like it to feel like a brand new FF title with homages to some of the older games that made the series great.

Sorry this is just vague rambling. I could deal with the game if it was completely re-done as long as it still felt like a FF game. I also don't want to see this story scrapped - I want to know where it's going - but I would definitely love to see it improved adding more quests and tie-in content as we go. As long as they leave the story alone and keep it true to the FF series I'd be able to handle any changes.
