Okay, kiddies... I'm sure there were a couple threads on this lovely error message already, but I couldn't find them after initially seeing them.

Same ol' same ol'. Got a brand new laptop for Christmas and popped in the game. Installed all the updates and whatnot then I go to play the game and get the black window and that additional message. I checked my specs and I have a sinking feeling that the problem is my video card, as A.) It's one of those built in Intel HD ones and B.) I've tried most of the other methods that I've found and no dice. Even updated the drivers on my video card, installed the newest Direct X and etc.

I read something about Event Viewer to see what kind of error it gives, but I can't for the life of me remember how that process went.

However, here are the specs on my lappy so maybe someone can either deny or confirm my speculation?

Forgive the poor crop job and such as I haven't gotten to install PS on this computer yet so was forced to use Paint, lol.

http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/8820/specsl.png << Screencap from the FFXIV Config screen. I noticed there's "Video Memory" and "Shared Video Memory", but I'm assuming the minimum req. for the game is based off just the "Video Memory." Correct me if I'm wrong?

Any help (be it good news or bad) is much appreciated! Thanks!

I honesty don't think an intel graphics chip can run the game at all, that's most likely why it won't run.

Rule number 1 and 2 of hardware issues with games made with graphics from this generation of gaming are broken right there.

1. Don't use a cheap laptop for gaming. Only use gaming-specific laptops.
2. Never EVER EVER EVER use a built in graphics card (integrated graphics) for gaming.

Put simply, your laptop is insufficient for this game.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ;(
