I havent played in like 2-3 weeks and I doubt I will unless SE makes some HUGE changes. I want to make sure I cancel before they start charging but I like keeping my account active while its still free. So has SE said anything about charging yet?

When they will lay out their plans and tell us the new direction, they will start charging. Probably a month or two to go. When they announce vanafest or something like it, we are getting close.

If you're like me and you haven't bought any Crysta and don't have Click & Buy set up, you can keep playing. My assumption, since I don't have any way for them to charge me, is that I'll automatically get cut off when they start charging.

In my haste to start playing on opening day I bought $20 worth of crysta on both my accounts but I would prefer to cancel before I use said crysta because if SE makes FFXIV into a game worth playing in 6 months or something I would like to use my crysta then to try it out.

Is there anything else you can buy with Crysta at all? If so, you could buy $10 worth of crap or so to take your balance under $10, and therefore not have enough for it to be deducted.

Tell the truth, I haven't been able to log in since October, I kept looking at my credit cards each month and I notice none have been charge by SE. I just hope I do not get charged a lump sum for like 4 months of play at once.

With all the negative publicity this game has gotten, the worst thing SE could possibly do would be to back charge all of the players for all of the "free" play time.

Now -that- would seal the game's fate.

I'm no lawyer but that sounds lawsuit worthy to me.

I am, and yeah, this won't be happening. lol

You should be able to cancel your account now and still log into the game. I cancelled my account back in November, when we thought that we were only getting one free month to play. After SE made the game F2P until further notice, I didn't reactivate my account. With the addition of the search feature in December, the game finally reached a state where I find it playable. I've been playing fairly consistently since that update, but my account is still technically "cancelled".

Why would you come to ZAM forums looking for this information? How about checking the lodestone, or your email account? Or was your goal to let everyone know you're not playing any longer, and sharing your strategy of account cancelation with us all?
