Will we be on hold waiting for PS3 players to catch up?Follow

Hi all.
I'm currently leveling up several classes at once, but expect to have one at R50 by the PS3 release.
I'm wondering if the cap will be extended then, to keep PC players happy, or they will keep it at 50 to allow PS3 players to catch up?
Will it be disheartening for PS3 players, having loads of maxed characters surrounding them, or inspire them to work harder?
Will it be too annoying for PC players having to kick their heels waiting for PS3 players to catch up? Or will people enjoy exploring other classes while they wait? Give them the chance to experience the things they have missed out on by focusing on one class.

Personally, I am in no rush to get to R100 and endgame. I want to enjoy the journey and enjoy trying different jobs, but am aware not everyone will want the same. I'm going to be playing a long time and want things to look forward to later.

What do you think?

I think one of the major points of this class system is that they can expand the game horizontally rather than vertically. Each class they add gives each player the opportunity to decide how much more they want to level.

This game doesn't really end at 50. A player could easily decide to be rank "200" by leveling a few classes to 50 for various abilities. Given the mountain of SP needed 39-50, I'd hope they wait a while beyond PS3 release for that move. Basically when they run out of ideas for weapons that new classes could wield.

If there are enough PS3 players signing on, I'd doubt they'd notice the high level players too much assuming by then something like Ishgard would be accessible. If anything, they'll benefit from having PC players pave the way as all those low and mid level crafted items will be available. There won't be •many• cries about canvas cloth and what not like there was initially for PC players.

My guess is that when PS3 is released, a lot of these "barriers" that are in the game now will dissappear. Fatigue, inability to get proper level crafting leves, invisible fail rate on DoL after more than 2 hours, etc... I think that without a lot of those limiting factors, leveling will become a lot faster and people will get caught up quicker. Just a guess about that, but it would make sense as to why some things in game or so painstakingly slow to level currently.

They will probably keep the rank/level cap in place but as someone stated above they will add in a few new jobs giving the PC players incentive to rank up "new" low level jobs. If SE is smart they will also add in some mid level content along with high level content, making us r50's go back and do the content, giving those PS3 players a high rank helper.

But, and it's a BIG but, we still don't know the date of the PS3 elease or even IF there is to be a PS3 release. I know SE is on "make or break" with a PS3 release on this game, but there may not be many people left playing this game by PS3 release.

They raised the Lvl Cap in FFXI w/o even considering waiting for it til NA/EU Release, so I don't see them being cautious about raising it before PS3 release, more than that I can see the SP gained from R1-20 being changed to R1-40 so PS3 players have an easier time catching up.

To be honest, the only reason I started FFXIV with the PC version was, that I couldn't stand the thought having to catch up to a completely full developed player base that already explored the whole world, like I had to in FFXI. This time I wanted to be there when it all begins.

I'm playing the wait and see game with the new dev team. Currently I'm not logging any time into FFXIV except to see version update changes.

In my heart of hearts I have my fingers crossed for a new game experience by the time the PS3 version is launched. IF that happens and they up new servers for the influx of players (PLEASE!) I'd create a new character and have a new start and grow with that community.

In the mean time I'll log in to see whats each version update brings until FFXIV is able to capture my attention, until then I'm back to FFXI, working on my stingray +2 and DRG AF3 upgrades.
