Some people here are really being a Negative Nancy.

This wasn't a giant version update, this was just to fix a bug. The early 2011 version update is going to be the next one that contains the plethora of content and stuff that people are anticipating.

To expect mass changes in a small patch is quite silly.

As much as I appreciate the work SE has been doing... but really I expect more I want their programmers hardwired to their computers, I'm talking about colostomy bags, catheters, Central IV lies, NG feeding tubes, THE WORKS. These workers are to not leave their computers till the game is done... now slave away to appease me :).

This, totally... which is why I'm perplexed as to why we haven't heard any significant information about the game so far this year. Did SE think we'd all go out New Year's Eve and get so drunk, we'd forget all the game's problems? Or do they figure they can afford to take their time as long as the game is free?

I'm half expecting to see the epic announcement we've been waiting for on Monday... but I would have had that announcement out already, which is why I'm only half expecting it to happen.

They are still facepalming at the community. It takes a few days to pull yourself together.

Let's not forget the survey doesn't end until Friday, so if anything they may be waiting for that to finish before collecting their thoughts and presenting something to the masses.

If they really are facepalming themselves, I wonder what they're thinking?

"Why, oh why, couldn't they have just drank the kool aid?"

"They wanted the kool aid, we gave them the kool aid, now they refuse to drink the kool aid."

Give them a minute, they are still new at this communication thing.

I believe the development team graduated from the Tree Ent School of Communication.

They need to still work on that "make the community really believe like we give a crap"-thing, the basis of any dev>community communication past actual updates that change the game.

We criticized them for not asking us and always doing what they wanted, now we criticize them for asking. I can't even imagine what the Blizzard representatives have to go through. Good thing they are pro's.

You know what, this warehouse of opo-opos is probably the main translator team which has been busy translating and compiling all the data from the polls for the past week and half. Leaves no room for other translator work, most likely. They definitely didn't hire anyone new for this task, I can almost guarantee it.

May not excuse the silence for some but definitely can explain it.

In Clan Lord, earthquakes hit and massively powerful monsters spawn at the time of an update, basically forcing you to log out or...die. :)

Freaking awesome! I want this in game!

System: Servers will be shutting down in one minute.
Me: Let me craft this one more thing...
System: A massive earthquake shakes the world.
Me: Wha..?
Monster: RAWR!
Me: Momma ;_;

If SE is going to do anything that will make people happy you'll all get a long, self righteous e-mail explaining every wonderful thing as a testament to their awesomeness. Complete with excuses for why it took so long.

So they shouldn't give update details now? Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

More like they should keep minor fixes in reserve for regular maintenance times. Emergency fixes should address issues that affect everyone equally, like the market ward crashes or login issues.

3hr's was way to long for a simple reboot my guess is they've made ready Content to be released and recompiled the database, throwing in a small fix as a bonus...besides the servers needed a reboot...that lag was getting to be a bit much.

The poll finishes this Friday 14th Jan, they prob already have a good idea on what is required and are no doubt putting together a list of things they are going to aim for. We should hopefully get a update on the lodestone the following week something along the lines of poll results followed by promise of further update. Maybe another week or so and we might have a updated list version of the next update but only basic information and a timescale of when said update will happen. A few days before update a detailed version will be revealed and hopefully will contain a lot of fixes and content and maybe a UI re-vamp.

Thats my general expectation at what will happen in the next few weeks but I dont expect a update to happen until around mid Feb - start of March. I might be wrong on the timescales as I do remember a article where SE promised monthly updates but they may not deliver on that.

God damnit complainers...this maintenance wasn't even supposed to have any **** fixes...I am a crafter myself...I didn't have that "leves getting lower in rank" bug yet, but I'm so glad that I know I won't get it at all now.

And all you ******* who comlpain about such a bug fix being useless ****...tell that yourself again when you're shouting for a crafter to repair your ****, cause you obviously have no interest in crafting yourself, and then complain about why there is something fixed that only applies to one group of people, who you are dependant of...selfish ********.

@Shezard
Eat your veggies.

The sad thing is that they raise hopes with "update" notes, which are no more than a bugfix.
Would you call that a "version update"? Like, 3.001.00025.00001 -> 3.001.00025.00001b or what?

I was going to post something about how the new team is still formulating their changes, but whats the point. Haters will always hate no matter what.

For those who like to keep an even head, the poll is still open, and judging by their word of "first", there will be more polls in the future. This, and the dev team does need time to go through all of the poll responses, come up with design plans, implement them to the programmers, and then implement them into the game.

In short, and I'm being optimistic here, I'd say it would be at least six months before we see anything concrete in Final Fantasy XIV.

This problem needed to be addressed. They addressed it. What's the issue?

And you missed the point of my post. The guy was ******** about SE giving detailed notes on updates. Like I said, damned if you do, damned if you don't.

out of all the things still needed in this game from day 1.
they fix a leve bug........they fix a leve bug Oo

confidence in new team drops 2%more.....scary

The version of the game was updated, it could have been the subversion, not game version. Also there were still 1 year+ of additions/fixes from the old management that has to be implemented, so the "new team" isn't doing anything but gathering information right now.

What are "all of the things needed in this game from day 1" that generally comes with MMOs overtime? The only thing this game needs right now is bug/hotfixes and optimization.
