I miss my Corsair. But XIV pirates use broad axes.

Where's my gun and rapier? Smiley: cry

Don't mind me, I'm just bored and don't want to grind any more classes to 20.

On a more relevant note, here's a poll:

Being that the poll ends at "1 a.m." Friday. Will we see an epic announcement of epic epicness?
I believe in the epicness and it's epic arrival on a day that will live on in epicness, aka 1/14/2011. :15 (15.2%)
Not likely. My brother's sister's mom's third child works at SE and there's just no chance.:24 (24.2%)
Who cares. :10 (10.1%)
I like moogle ****. :50 (50.5%)
Total:99

I coined the phrase "Whipping the moogle." in XI, even though I only played it for a few days.

And I had to listen to Bouken Desho Desho? half a dozen times before that song was out of my head.

...and now it's back again.

I didn't think there'd be much translating to do. Given that it's multiple choice I assumed it was tallying the results as they came in.

Additionally, I got the impression that all the things listed on the poll were things already in the works and the poll was to serve two purposes. 1) To buy them a little extra time. It certainly turned out as a nice way to quell the storm for two weeks, eh? 2) To find out what to lead with.

One in the morning just seems like an odd time to end something like that without a purpose.

Ultimately it's just hopefully theory crafting on my part and I'll likely be wrong.

I just hope they still put in the group-built row boat. If nothing else I can stand in it and pretend, darn it!

If this poll is suppose to be our distraction for 2 weeks, I'm thinking some Moogle **** will distract everyone for about 6 months.

Not going to happen.

If they announced what they're going to do right after the poll ends it would send out a message "those who took the poll during the last days were ignored".

This is why I stand by my previous prediction the we'll hear about the future plans a week after the poll has ended at the earliest. It'll probably take more time though.

They already have their hands full with the promised March update.
March update was probably crammed full of as much stuff as they felt possible delivering in that time-frame as that announcement happened right after epic amounts of sh** hit the fan on the web.

Naoki has several times stated that delivering the promised content on time is their top priority even before the new staff has made any announcements.

Thus I wouldn't expect too much too soon.

ROFL

I voted Moogle ****, nearly sprayed tea all over my monitor (or something like that ;0 )

Wouldnt expect anything till next week, unless as soon as the poll closes they are able to collate, analyse, make decisions, set in place a plan, communicate it and translate it for us in one days work... but me thinks not.

but Epicness will abound!

LOL, Seph...awesome thread.

Two reasons. I needed a laugh, and you provided. Moogle **** indeed.

And I'm with you 100% on the pirate idea! Seriously, we can be marauders and we get to use a gun in the freaking cutscene, but there are NO guns to be had as playable weapons? T_T

moogle pron off the charts gogogogogogo!!!!

i can't seriously be bothered to vote on anything else with an option like that lol gg.

but seriously, i expect no big announcement. this game is slow u-turn mode. but i really think they will try. there is no point in investing into a staff structure change like they did without at least going out with a bang... unless all these ppl they hired work for less..... i'd say they should know what to expect with changes like that but i can't help but wonder.

If there's a first that explicitly calls itself the first, that would probably imply that there will eventually be a second.

Or maybe polling players about the direction the players want to see the game head in is their new strategy. Admittedly, I -loved- the annual Vana'diel census. Perhaps player polls will be an annual or semi-annual (or even quarterly) event for FFXIV wherein they come out and ask the players "How do you think we're doing, and where would you like us to go?"

It has the potential to backfire, but it also has the potential to be a great idea. I mean, how many developers come out and plainly ask their players "Hey, are you having fun? If not, what can we do to make it fun?" and get some aggregate data on it.

I like it.

Me too nut it's a double edged sword.
If the update is something like: "The Poll ended! Thanks for participating!"
I'm going to push my head in the oven.
The more I think about it the more likely an update like that seems likely to appear on the lodestone. T__T

Oh god I wanna start playing XIV and stop hitting the F5 already!

i imagine it is a garbage day over at SE. it was what? only a month and a half since staff change? i expect we will see response to poll and then a month later maybe a post of new content that will come out in another month or two months :/ best case scenario
