I was trying to get to Camp Iron lake for no particular reason and I found this:

Anyone know 1 mob would be glowy and another not?

Don't mobs/NPC's sort of light up for a split-second once you target them? It could have glitched and not dimmed back down to the normal brightness. On a related note, after all of us dying thanks to my friend 4 starring a Puk leve we were doing. When we all came back he showed invisible to me, I could still target him and see his spell/ws/ability effects but no character model. Games got some glitches, but perhaps he's like a Shiny Pokemon, in which case....Gotta Catch em ALL!

I'm guessing that someone attacked it,probably died and the biast didn't reset properly.

Edit: Biast really light up like when you fight them. It's not a targetting light up glitch.

Drake type of enemies do this. They usually light up when they're in aggro mode.

The fire drakes in Ceortha (sp?) light up red when they aggro and chase you down. I'm guessing its their element.

I never aggroed it though. I guess I am just lucky to see this... since not of the other biast did this. It was glowing before it ever attacked me XD

"Aggro" might not be the right word.
You know how diremite's eyes glow when they spot you? Or a crab rears its pinchers when you're in range? I think it's something like that. Drakes/Biasts have always glowed for me, but the only ones I've interacted with are the ones in NW Ceortha and those purple biasts you're snapshotting.

These biasts light up when they are charging up for their AoE lightning TP attack,(looks awesome btw, way cooler than their fire-type cousins in thalanan). I guess the one you saw got stuck in the glowy state after someone aggroed it.

My LS used to grind sp on these prior to the late Nov update when the raptor camps got crowded. It was quite exciting since their lightning AE hit for 1000ish and their tail attack would 1-hit anyone besides tanks. Too bad the late Nov update killed FF11 style party grind.

They've always one shotted me while glowing so I tend to stay away from them when they start doing it.

Yeah those are one of my favorite mobs. We killed a few of them prior to that pt killing patch, though we usually went after the fire drakes since they were closer... I did much prefer the storm ones though, which are basically the same as the one in that screenshot except a little higher I think.

At least the nm's still offer a group experience... I hope SE sacked the people who were turning the game towards solo play... If not... Then that sucks and I will probably never take another job to 50.

yeah the storm ones killed me earlier, lol

I would rather eat my own eyes than camp coblyns so I am none to pleased with the patch that made people more into killing them than these

Prior to the patch, the battle mechanics were fun but were also encouraging some bad playing style (such as getting hit by AoE intentionally and cure 1 spam)

IMO, all they need to do to make party sp grind desirable is to improve scaling of sp gain in proportion to the difficulty of the mob. It shouldn't be too hard to do but I guess they don't see it as a problem.

Kinda reminds me of FFXI. When I first began playing the avatars didn't have a glow to them, but now they do.

Prolly my settings - I don't play maxed out. Still looks pretty enough and when I try to tune it up I get stuttering

Cool. I'm wondering what it would drop if you killed it? Do glowy mobs drop glowy equip?! Nah, of course not. And it will probably not glow when it spawns next time.

Did you get killed by both Biasts? Did the glowy one hit you harder?

It may be just a visual glitch but it's pretty cool looking!
