Are things going in the right direction?Follow

I decided not go with FFXIV for many reasons and was wondering how things are progressing.

I know there was talk about adding an auction house or something that let you search retainers more easily. Was this implemented yet?

Also, I read that there are now NMs or will be. Are these in yet? And are these what you would call the "end-game" (is there end game things to do yet?).

And I couldn't find more on this. Are they currently charging monthly fee's? I could have sworn I saw something about them not at the moment, or they weren't before and are now?

Any other nice updates about the game would be nice. Such as what you can currently do once you are max level, besides leveling other jobs/tradeskills.

Search function has been implemented. Makes finding things a lot easier, but has the caveat of only working on items that are actually being sold in the correct wards. The star above a sellers head does still appear on sellers in a different ward, but the number of sellers with that item are displayed as 'zero' in the search box. Still a few kinks in the system.

NMs are in the game. Some are wandering enemies and some are faction levequests which face you against powerful enemies. You'll need rank 50 to take on these beasts, but as of yet they don't require any special tactics to defeat beyond what players are already used to.

Currently not charging the monthly fee until they themselves are satisfied with the direction the game is heading. They will warn us in advance when they begin adding the fee.

Endgame is pretty much just levelling a new class or skill. Sadly there's still very little content for the high ranks beyond killing the NMs and hoping for rare drops to get items. It's goal-oriented at least, so its a step in the right direction, we just need more of them.

At this point, it would have to go in ANY direction to know whether it was good or bad. Right no, there is zero direction.

There are NMs, they are hardly endgame in terms of what you'd expect from other MMOs, but its a start. They are few and far apart, but spawn quickly and don't take much strategy besides having a decent # of 50s.

To relate it to FFXI it's like we have Roc and Serket but not Fafnir or Jormungand or King Behemoth yet.

NMs don't drop gear either (except leve quest NMs drop tokens) they drop crafting materials to make ... somewhat decent quality items. They aren't amazing and more along the lines of the gear to get before your artifact gear (when/if it comes out).

There is no monthly fee, and its possible there never will be.
You can search retainers if they are placed in the correct ward only, no auction house.

Aside from the NMs which are not soloable, there is nothing to do endgame.
When you hit max level you level another job. That's really it other than do rank 40 leves for faction points I guess.

I see thanks. Seems like I will not be trying the game out then.

Leveling is fun for the first time in a game. Getting your character to max level. But if that's really all there is to offer still, then I can see why it's a free monthly fee.

I really wish they hadn't rushed this game out. So much promise when we started to hear things about it. But a game that has nothing to do besides level another character or kill NMs that likely everyone is looking for is not a finished game, or even a "beta test ready" game.

Thanks again for the responses!

Thats not really a direction, more of some vauge ideas and some things being added, which may change and could be the last bit that stays like that, after this bit its all a giant mystery as to what might happen. Been a few weeks and we have had jack from the new dev team aside from "here is a poll and we want you to believe we are making the game better".

Guess why? Because

says everything that needs to be said. If there are changes SE will let us know- and if not, that's the status quo regardless of what you think about them. At that point it's not really SE's problem.

They are adding a price history to the market wards. It couldn't be any worse.

I thought this was the worst thing about FFXI's AH(besides only being able to put up a pitiful amount of items). So easily manipulated by RMT and forces prices either incredibly high or low. Markets usually balance themselves based on supply and demand, with a price history supply and demand don't mean quite as much.

I love this link. I should put it in my tag followed by: Dear FFXIV Fanboy(girl) 'First 2011 Update' could come Dec 31 2011. Enjoy

:D

EDIT: On a more serious note regarding price history. I agree. I don't need it in the retainer system. Just give me the stars and let me go shop.

regardless its still vague and content made by a a team thats not in charge. How does tell us whats the new direction is going to be, its still just a list of stuff possibly being added and some vague info on changes (the "adjustments" could be anything at this point)
