Just wanted to ask the question:

How much patience do you have for SE to improve FFXIV?
Less than none. The game is dead and unfixable.:16 (5.8%)
Virtually none. I need to see a plan and a timeline by the end of the month or I'm out.:42 (15.2%)
Virtually none. I don't care about the plan, but I need to see some actual changes by the end of the month.:14 (5.1%)
Very little. I'll give them a few months to develop a plan and let us know.:27 (9.8%)
Very little. I need to see changes, not plans, in the next couple of months though.:41 (14.9%)
Some. So long as they let us know what their plan is within six months, I'm happy.:15 (5.4%)
Some. I expect to see some major changes within a six month period or I'm leaving though.:27 (9.8%)
A fair amount. Just keep me updated with changes over the next 6-12 months and I'm happy.:24 (8.7%)
A fair amount. I expect the game to be ready to go within 6-12 months, max though.:20 (7.2%)
Plenty. It doesn't matter how long it takes them, just so long as they keep me informed.:35 (12.7%)
Unlimited patience. I don't care what they're doing or how long it takes them to do it. I'll wait as long as needed.:15 (5.4%)
Total:276

EDIT: And no, my custom title is not a subliminal message to suggest one of the poll options.

I chose "Very little - need changes." I'll buy the game once I see a single radical change implemented.

I don't see that happening, though.

It's been almost a month since they've given us any relevant information. If they can't at least tell us the direction the game is headed by the ended of january, I know this won't be the game for me, which sucks because I really want it to be...

I think one (at least) detailed update of what's going on wouldn't be much to ask... But like someone pointed out, it has been again a while since we heard anything.
I am def. starting to lose hope and if something doesn't come up in a month or so, I will move on.

Plenty of time...

I'll be playing R..T until then. I'm thinking I won't touch 14 until after several major updates...so I'm guessing sometime early 2012. Anyone expecting major changes to content over the next few months will be disappointed.

The tea leaves says major change is coming....slowly...

I think we need at least a detailed report on planned changes in just a few weeks or I'm really going to start losing interest. People are also going to assume the worst (NGE) unless SE tells us exactly what is going to change.

Also, I really hope they don't wait to unload all the major changes at once. They did a good job with the Nov. and Dec. updates, but lets continue to see the changes applied as they're developed. I'd rather see weekly or bi-weekly minor updates for a few months than wait two months for a major update. I'm even OK with half-developed features (see Market Ward search). Interviews won't fix the game. Updates will.

You gave people too many options, frankly my opinion was a mix and match of several of the answers but I had to pick one so...

For me, I'm not sticking around in game waiting so in that sense I have no patience for SE. I really don't care anymore until I start seeing results. But I'm not writing the game off either, it's not dead or unfixable to me, it's simply not enjoyable for me to play right now. If it becomes enjoyable again I'm more than willing to come right back to it.

Checking the update notes every few months until the game is good enough- it doesn't make sense to "run out of patience" if the game will be good someday. And if its not, well, I only wasted the time it took to read the patch notes.

I figure 6 months from now SHOULD be the PS3 release if they hope for anything, as PS3 is all i will buy it on. If changes are made or planned to be made, consider me part of the fray. If not i'm going to pick up something else to hold my time long term, then play skyrim or some other mmo towards the end of the year.

I don't care if there are major sweeping changes, for example that interview today was epic news. Granted all talk but that's all i want.

I hope for the best, but i am going to expect the worst(that it's not going to change much and eventual go micro transaction or close down).

I put "Very little. I need to see changes, not plans, in the next couple of months though", because it was the closest to my true feelings. As it stands, I have what I consider zero patience. This game is inferior in every way to its competitions, I will never log in again under its current state, and fully believe that its current state does not, and cannot ever sustain a playerbase large enough to be profitable.

However, I do keep checking this site for news, (and economic debate, but that's a guilty pleasure), so while the game to me is dead, the final nail isn't in the coffin yet. But I'm currently playing DCU and having a great time with it, so I'd guess they have about 2 months to hook me before I completely write it off.

I chose less than none, but not because I believe the game is dead and unfixable.

Sure, any game is fixable. And this one has had a lot of good improvements lately. But at this rate, will FFXIV still matter to me when mmorpgs like Rift and Star Wars: The Old Republic have released? I'm banking on the answer being "no". I usually only play one or (if I can stretch it) two mmorpgs at a time. SWTOR already has me starry eyed, and FF14 is, so far, a huge disappointment to me. So it's fate has pretty much already been sealed. Well, with me at least.

Virtually none. I need to see a plan and a timeline by the end of the month or I'm out.

This is basically me. I didn't buy at release because I tried open beta and was really incredulous that THIS was what they were choosing to release. However, I bought the game just before Christmas to give it a fair shake after the two function updates and while I found a fantastic and engaging linkshell, the game just isn't doing it for me.

I'm a busy dude. I work a lot. I'm in training to run my first marathon in July. I hit the gym for at least 10-12 hours a week. I don't have time to "just be patient!" for my entertainment, when my chill out time is so very limited.

I hope for the best, and I really do hope SE proves me wrong, but I'm pretty much calling game DOA.

Sort of on the fence here. I'm willing to give SE some time and plan to continue to play XIV casually.

BUT, if another MMO comes out and it's really good (I'll wait a month or so after it's been released to make that determination) then I will gladly try that game out.

Lol, I'd have to agree with you on that. I've seen the trailers and looked into the game and I don't believe that it is going to live up to its hype.

Anyhoo, I want to be informed with what they are going to be doing. If that can't set a deadline to every update, I can understand that. I just need to know that they have a definite plan and there are going to be some major changes. I can't wait more than six months for this game to get to the point where I can play it often and enjoy it.

The game is playable as it is right now, note that I said playable and not enjoyable. Obviously this is my opinion. I get on a lot less than I used to and it is rather sad. I'll play for a good while during the day and then won't play for at least a few days. Then get back on for a couple of hours and then log out. Don't like the fact that I don't enjoy it as much as I should. I'm really hoping that Yoshida and the rest of the dev team can really get this game in working order soon.

This goes for me. I'm lurking and waiting. Unless I see some concrete plans, I'll continue to watch from the sidelines which is...sorta sad considering how I spent almost 2 years in suspense, waiting for FFXIV.

Care to elaborate on this? You're implying SWTOR will end up like FFXIV. Wanna explain why you bothered implying that?

Personally I'm also looking forward to SWTOR. It seems to have a lot more going for it than FFXIV at this stage of development. If you're so pessimistic about one of the most anticipated MMOs this year I wonder which MMO you consider to be worth looking into then?

Well I have XI to keep me busy and they've already promised a lot of interesting changes for this year in Van'diel like merging the AHs and further removal of level caps.

But I'd really like to play XIV too, but I don't want to burn myself out on it by doing the same quest over and over again before more than that one (leve)quest arrives.

They could at least hint at the changes on their twitter account like XI team does as currently the most interesting thing about XIV is to wait for quests.

Yoshida said that the UI is the next fix but I'm not going to play a game for an extended period of time just to see a new UI. =(

I went with this. I've been following the game notes closely since they reduced the game to a paid beta but I haven't logged in since I re-made my open beta character. I really want this game to bounce back but I only have so much patience with things like Titan and DC Universe in development / out. :(

seems like people are getting close to the edge, which i fully understand..im just about there myself, though there is not much else i care for aside from possibly the new star wars MMO. Most of us have been waiting on this game to not suck for over 4 months now and when you have so much else to play, MMO or not people are not going to really stick around. Im only sticking around because of my love for FF/SE/and the amazing time i had in FFXI. If for some reason all my friends decide that there is another MMO worth getting into, il play that. Also even if this game gets better, if all my RL FFXI friends decide not to play, then i wont either....things suck way worse without friends.

ditto...Rift...hmmmm, licking my chops.

I'll never give up FFXIV(unless it gives up on me), but I don't want to be part of the group who jumps in when an update comes, play around with the new material...then continue to wait for the next update. I want the game to look and feel like a FULL game when I get back into it, and that's going to be awhile.

Rift is coming on the first of March, by the end of March we will see if its good or bad then am going to try it, sure ill check on FFXIV, my dream is to play FFXIV as i played FFXI for 6+ years, but the way things going now, no one can tell if its going to be good or just die like others did (AoC, WaR and Aion), i hope it wont.

Something concrete needs to be stated if not delivered within the next month or two for me. Otherwise, I'll have exhausted literally everything this game has to offer.. And go from just a boring game to a boring game with no stone left unturned.

I still have a hard time believing after the build-up, they gave us 5 freaking NMs (and for high rank players only). How many does XI have, 500? It's really remarkable, I hope they know they can have more than one in a zone.. I'm about the last person asking for open spawn NMs as it becomes all about the bots, but they've given us nothing else...

Not that the NM count isn't behind a hundred more pressing issues, but I don't take it as a good sign at all.

I have a lot of patience. I'm enjoying the game, though it hasn't hooked me in that 12 hours plus a day way that XI did. I find myself going AFK a lot and getting distracted.

I do think it needs to be nearly 100% in 6 to 12 months though.

I COULD wait for a freaking year for major updates and patches, as long I get to know some kind of schedule, as to when is happening what.

Right now I'm willing to wait for quite some time, all I want is some information and plans for whats to come in the next months(hopefully weeks?)
Whatever is the case...I do think this game needs the next major patch/update until March, or a whole lot of people will quit for good.

There are other games that come to mind, but whatever, you get the sense of my resolve don't you. Just because FF XIV sux atm, doesn't mean I'll drop it.

lol If you say so. I've seen trailers, followed the story for years, seen all the features it has to offer, and this far (unlike with FF14) I am very impressed. It may live up to the hype, it may not. But the thing is, if it's a good mmo, I will play it. At the very least, it can't be worse than FF14. lol

Can someone send a link of this post to SE ? ^^ Maybe then they will understand that the games current state isn't the main issue here but the fact that they don't respect us enough to at least give us some of there time and explain there ideas and a timeline for those. At least that is what I read here...

Or could it be that they simply have no clue whatsoever how to get this MMORPG going again ?

I picked 6 months to 12 months. After beta testing Rift, the scarey thought of new MMOs were going to be nothing more than gear grinds kinda disappointed me. I'll take copy pasted terrain over copy pasted entire game any day.
