I received FFXIV from amazon this morning. I have it installed and after getting excited (maybe a little too excited), the game stops working immediately after I hit play. I have a brand new Toshiba satellite laptop with 4 gb ram and Intel i3 processor 2.4ghz and Windows 7 hoe premium 64 bit. My graphics card is an Intel HD. If anyone can be kind enough to help me out it would be greatly appreciated as I've been trying to find a solution for quite a few hours now.

Intel has no graphics cards capable of running the game decently. A guy asked the same thing as you a few days ago, here's his thread: http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?forum=152&mid=1295276500168056611&page=1

In short, you need to upgrade your graphics card or buy a 500 dollar PC.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ;(

Sounds like an 8 dollar hooker.

I and many other had the same problem after a update. Don't worry it's not your videocard. It might be too light but then it would just overheat your laptop and slowdown or make graphical errors. ( Playing this on a laptop /me scratches behind his ear ) The problem here most likely is your sound. Yeah weird but true there were many posts about this after that update. I just got my sucky mono speaker of and use normal ones now. Select a different sound output and it should be fixed.

If not scroll back in the forum and look for people with the same problems there are more explanetory answers listed ^^

Good luck !!
