Just wondering what is the optimal level for Behest parties. As a 28 GLA, can I still join R20 behests?

it is hard to say.... depends on the level of the people in the party. If everyone else was R28 then the difficulty would be boosted and SP would be decent... if ya have a bunch of R15s in the party... the SP sucks.

the problem I've had is noone being at the R30 camps for behest - particularly nophica's wells and humblehearth. They are too hard to solo..

(I almost managed the humblehearth one solo... with lots of pots... but the final enemy that spawned was two darkeye devilets ; ;)

I heard something about Nanawa being popular. I don't know from experience though.

I joined R20 behests up til R29 or so and my SP was usually just fine, especially since they were usually large parties with lots of mobs to get SP on. One of the reasons I didn't stop doing R20 behests until later was because of what Olorinus mentioned about the lack of people at a lot of the R30 behests. When you are lower ranked you really need at least a small group for behest, but good luck finding that for R30 in Gridania! On my server at least, the Nanawa Mines and Cedarwood are the most popular places to do R30 behest, and Nophica's Wells often has a good bunch too. But in my late 20's I'd do leves at the nearly-empty Cassiopeia Hollow and do behest at Bloodshore.

It should be noted that smaller parties at a higher ranked camp > 15 player mess at R20 camp

Ideally you should be moving up around the time you should be doing the next rank of leves reliably. Honestly at the 20 camps I expect to see people from 10 to about 25ish. After 25ish I, like lux, could solo all but the last two mobs of the R30 behest although Lux was 28 at the time and I do note that mages may have a harder go of it than my LNC or ARC. At 25 though two people could easily finish a R30 behest, get decent SP and not have to deal with the cluster@#%^ that is the R20 camps. If I had to state a general rule of thumb I would say 5,15,25,35 you should switch to 10,20,30,40 behests. I don't go near R30s on my Lancer because I run around four shot everything and I am done, it's far more rewarding to do them on my ARC at 22 (I can almost solo R30s at 22) and with a similar level healer I can duo a R30 in about 10 minutes. If everyone moves up from the R20s to the camp they should be at we will see a better spread of people at different camps instead of having 5 people 35+ another 5 people 25-35 and 5 people between 15 and 25 doing R20 behests in LL and Ul'dah all the time, and having the R30+ people ***** about the fact that those people at the R18-22 who would dare do their R30 behests at bloodshore and horizon.

Edit for grammar and spelling fail on my part.

On Fabul, Cedarwood and Cassiopeia Hallows seem to be the favorite R30 Behests. I did R20 Behests until R26 and the SP was great at Bloodshore. Nanawa Mines are too over populated with the Iron Coblyn grinders.
