Why can't the developers do both - holidays _and_ core content?

They certainly could. However, assuming they do not have an infinite amount of employees, they'd have to take people away from one project to work on the holiday event. Are you willing to delay the first real "quest update" two weeks to put in Valentione's Day content? Are you willing to wait an extra two weeks for an AH? Two more weeks for job adjustments?

While we do not know that they aren't sitting on their bums right now, if they did release a big holiday event then we would know that they halted work on other projects to develop the holiday content. Assuming they did decide to half-*** the holiday stuff in order to focus on real concerns, they made the right choice.

We should just be happy they bothered to give us a Valentine's event at all.

We should just be happy to take what ever SE gives us.... yup... that's it.

I guess so; I never should have dared hurl an unkind word against the benevolent bells. I look forward to seeing you all this Easter for the Easter bell-ringing (unfortunately, SE already used up the Usagi Kabuto, so we will just be getting uncooked chicken eggs, but...).

This is a product someone sold you and they give you more half assed crap, you should be ******* not just accepting it

That or maybe some have more important things to be worried or ****** about, and they are content to play and have fun with what is given while waiting for things to get better.

Or yeah, you can spout complaints and rants on a video game forum incessantly.

why bother adding it if its that half assed? and if you want to make the argument about "they have more to do" then again...why add anything at all until you can do it right? Clicking a bell....again is not content, its a waste of time imo.

...Uhh yeah, I have no idea.

It's been said before in this thread, and I don't think it's sunk in for anyone yet so I'll repeat it again. Has it not crossed anyone's minds that maybe... just maybe, this was already created by the previous Development team? So the new team could either:

a.) Use the Valentine's Day content available to them and continue working on important things.

b.) Waist their time on a seasonal event that most people wouldn't waist their time with even if it was implemented well.

Are people really expecting this new team to just pull magic out of their derriere with a deep and complex seasonal event that quickly while they've probably just finally gotten settled in and familiar with the game's coding, how things are generally established, and where things need to go?

Yes this Valentine's day event is probably crap, but I'm not going to give the new team crap for the old team's crap.

i think for this event the mithra at mining guild should do more then simply taunt me with terms to which i would agree with under normal circumstances but have failed to comply with due to lack of conversational follow up.

While I do understand the disappointment of a few people I believe the majority realize that they are hard at work on the upcoming update(s) and they made the decision to make the current seasonal events low priority.

Once again they could have not bothered at all. Something is better than nothing in my opinion.

I would rather them work on fixing things that need fixing then them wasting time on making the event more then it will be.

I know the people complaining about the event are being accused of negativity for the sake of negativity, but I don't think that's really why people are meh about this.

I think it's disappointment fatigue.

Let's face it, every update that adds content/adjustments has been "meh" so far.
Sure, there have been a few things that were pretty good and had us happy for a few days, but those things were basic stuff that should have been released in better shape/design than we got to start with.

I'm with the crowd that see's the event as a clone of the rest.

Ring bell
Get stuff
Craft
Wait to ring bell again.

Kinda feels like:
Do leves.
Kill coblyns/grind crafts for 35 hours.
Do leves.

Also kinda feels like:
Buy mini-expansion:
Kill mobs (the 9 that are available to 2000 people) get key items.
BC fight.
Kill mobs (the 9 that are available to 2000 people) get key items.
BC fight.
Get reward.
Buy next mini-expansion:
Kill mobs (the 9 that are available to 2000 people) get key items.
BC fight.
Kill mobs (the 9 that are available to 2000 people) get key items.
BC fight.
Get reward.

At least in XI they took down the props in between events.
Lazy seems to be the new norm at SE. Making fun of their remaining players for noticing is a bit ballsy if you ask me.

So no fashionable clothing? that's a shame...

MMORPG's love = how-much-digital-skin-you-can-show.

The chocolate looks nice, I hope they give us some way to name it.

when the true meaning behind Valentione's Day is about expressing gratitude to a fellow friend or companion

Where as the actual Valentines Day is about hitting the clubs to find single and ultimatley desperate females.

And surely nobody can possibly whine about having their 'bell rung' in this scenario.

You don't throw good money after bad, and they're not gonna invest a lot of resources in a game that won Worst Game of the Year. That's bad management.

This - the lamest holiday event ever with the most ridiculous announcement ever - seems to be evidence that they're not taking this title seriously any more.

...unless there's more at stake than the success of a single title. in that regard, we are lucky it's part of the FF franchise. I agree on it being pretty lame, though. I've been ringing bells for two months in a row now.

Once again, a PR mistake. If they had clearly announced it as "something small, but something we didn't want to skip completely", everybody would have been happy.

If you have powdered sugar leftover from the first event, can the chocolates be crafted now? I wonder if the recipes are already in place.

More importantly, Feb. 15th is Sandy the ferret's birthday.
