My friend lost his security token. Does anyone know how to disable it without having to use it? I know he won't be able to use it ever again, but it was my understanding there was an option to disable in case you lose it?

I think the only option would be to call SE and have them unlink it from his account. The only other way I know of is to log into your SE account, which is impossible without the token. If he has all the original info linked to his account it shouldn't be a problem, I've had it done with my battle.net token before, took 2 minutes over the phone.

He has to call SE with information on the account to disable the token.I think only a live person can remove it.

I googled Security Token FAQ and found this Q&A

Q: What do I do if my security token is lost or broken?

A: Please contact the Information Center immediately. As soon as we have confirmed that you are the account holder, we will remove the security token settings from your account.

thanks for the info guys, they say they can remove it as soon as he can successfully answer the security question. He just can't remember which question he chose, and the answer is case sensitive. And it is a long process to re-enter answers, he might be there for a while.

thanks guys ^^

Heads up - my Hermes Shoes ended up costing my $25 on the phone bill. The 1-858 phone number is not toll free, and they will keep you on hold as long as possible.

858 is never toll free it is an area code in San Diego. 800, 888, 877, 866, and 855 are the only toll free numbers in the US.
