Since right now, post rank 20 hardly anything is worth the time and effort, party or not.

Not true, I can get 50k sp in a matter of a couple hours running leves with my LS at rank 42. But you can't do that outside of leves, so I hope that is what they are addressing. Leve SP doesn't need to be touched.

I wasn't referring to leves in any way, shape or form in my post. Leves are an entirely different monster, but seeing as how the patch notes just said "sp gain in parties." It will very likely apply to both in and out of leves, seeing as how it was an "improvement" then chances are all it will do is improve your rate of gain in your stupendous leve parties.

My point, though, was that before rank 20 you can kill a yellow dodo and potentially get 200+ sp. After rank 20 you can kill a different tier of dodo, still yellow, and maybe get 100. That is a flawed system, and no matter what they do to sp gain in parties, until they address that flaw nothing they do will actually be an acceptable improvement. Until they fix how sp works in it's entirety, anything they do will only be "slightly less worse" than it is now.

I am all for improvements. But I'd much rather they acknowledge what is broken rather than implement fixes that only make things slightly more bearable.

Yeah that is the headgear I had in mind with my last comment. I wasn't clamouring for this feature but I will be happy to never have to be seen in a coif again

Somewhere, an artist is banging his hands upon the keyboard in futility, crying to himself, "But I tried so hard to give them realistic coifs!"
Look at the bright side, he can leave it for display =)

I think is a great feature, easy to implement and will pay for the hours spend selecting your character's hair =D

The Dev team is proceeding exactly as they said they would a couple of weeks ago. They are going to concentrate on fixing what is already here while they work on developing new content from scratch. Look for a couple of more patches in this vain. I do not expect any new content til the regularly scheduled March update. It is at this point where We will probably see new levee quest and additions to the basic game play i.e companies. Could be wrong but doubt it.

I thought quests were coming in the next patch in the beginning of February?

Yay for the headgear thing! Now I can buy that bronze bullet-looking thing and still see my pretty manbraids! Now if they just turn on the option to un-powder your "pg8" nipples all will be great!

Trying to speculate on the party SP changes.

Quote:
Adjustments to Skill Points
¤ Improvements to skill point acquisition for parties

The word improvements is always better than adjustments!

Here's hoping they incentivize open world parties. I would like to see "Open World Party" added to the party search purpose window. If that were an option, I would turn it on as soon as I logged in.

I don't think dividing the playerbase into open world parties and guildleve parties is a good thing at all. Either or, as both systems need other people to be effective, guildleves even more so.

I disagree. One of the problems in XI was that if you wanted to form a party for ANY purpose other than XP (e.g. missions, quests, Nyzul), you were limited to shout. Sure, you could leave stuff in your comment but many people ignored them. Many a time, I'd put my flag up and put a red (Mission) comment saying that I was looking for a group for a mission and I'd still get tells of "{Bibiki Bay} {Party}?" and "Our (person's job) is leaving in 15 mins, can you replace them?"

I'm all in favor of allowing people who want to look for a party to declare the type of party they're looking for outside of a search comment. If you're already done your 8 leves for the current time period and you just want to party grind, you should have that option to search as that if you want to.

Now I'm also in favor of allowing you to pick MULTIPLE types if you're fine with any of them (e.g. lfp for Guildleve or open world) rather than forcing players to only be able to pick one. But I do think that open world party should be an option to flag up for.

Oh, I meant the SP adjustments, I'm not against party search improvements. I see now that he was talking about something else there as well, so I should have clarified my point properly.

Oh, okay; I see now. I thought you were trying to say "Don't add a search option for open world party because it would divide people between guildleve parties and open world parties", hence my confusion.

Remember, those are just partial patch notes. They could either come with this update, or the following "b" update, which will probably happen a week or so after the first.

EDIT: The NPC item exchange quests I mean.

Oh, and btw, it's a very standard feature in WoW, so I'm guessing a lot of people probably got the idea from there. Not a bad feature though, I see no harm in tossing it in. Though I'd much prefer they fix earrings on seeker of the moons, because they haven't shown up ever since one of the patches last year... They worked fine at launch, but now my earrings are invisible... grrr.
A lot of games have now taken up that feature. If I recall, LoTRO went a step further and created costume slots for players who are attached to certain pieces of gear due to looks. The equivalent of .dat swapping without the digging through folders or fiddling with model viewer, if you will.

Coming from the guy whose character has a shaved head! XD

(It is a good feature, though.)
