I have near 100k guildmarks in total, with roughly 2000 of them craftmarks. Are there certain rules to getting craftmarks that I am missing, or is it just pretty random at this point? I usually only pick r15+ local leves, but still can't seem to ever get any rewards. The rewards I do get are usually only about 500. Thats right, in having played since launch, I've only been rewarded craftmarks four times. For convenience, I try to limit my local leves to Bentbranch, Emerald Moss, Tranquil, and town. I was hoping an experienced crafter could shed some light on the situation. Do only certain leves have a chance to award guildmarks? Will I ever get guildmarks at Bentbranch, or do I have to travel further (Crimson bark, Nine Ivies) to start getting my rewards? Maybe I've just been having bad luck with them.

Well, I've been getting more marks lately at r25, 30 and 35 leves..but i don't know, maybe thats just me(luck).

And yes, they are random. So keep doing leves and you'll get marks eventually.

PS: higher rank leves gives a bigger mark reward(1k+)
PPS: I also think that getting your DoH jobs 20+(+class quest completed) have some sort of influence in getting marks more often as well, but that's a guess.

Cheers.

Location, in my experience (can't say it for sure there is insufficient data to confirm) does not affect chance of getting marks. The system is kind of silly right now and I hope they change it so we can see if it's a cash or mark reward when taking the leves at some point. That being said R15 seems to be the lowest confirmed leve rank you can get marks from (although there is an argument that it may be R10), R15s tend to give the 500ish marks you seem to have gotten but it goes up fairly quickly once you get into the higher ranked leves I have seen upwards of 1500 from R30 and 35 leves. It's pretty tough to get marks for a job unless you actively take as many R15+ leves as possible all the time, or you get really lucky. It gets easier at higher ranks because you have access to more leves (atleast sometimes when SE decides not to give you 8 R1-10 CRP leves at R34). I know it's not the answer you wanted but it's kind of how it goes for Locals.

That kind of is the answer I was looking for. I didn't waant to have to travel to Nine Ivies and Crimson Bark. As long as I can stay at my local/fav camps and still get randomly awarded, I'm happy with that. Ayled is gonna see a lot more of me/

I was more so referencing the random than the you not having to walk out to ****'s half acres and back through diremites and such. Like I said I hope we get to see if we are getting marks when we take a leve like the other disciplines at some point.

Craft Guildmarks are random from local leves. I currently have 14 training books between my 3 main crafts.
I have all Leather and just missing 1 book for both Weaving and Carpenter.
The marks can be crazy, like today I did 3 Weaver leves in Ul'dah and all 3 gave marks. Other times I've gone like a week or more without getting any marks for any craft.
It is leves R15+ that give the marks.
Also you can get marks for doing you quests for the classes. R20 Quest = 2k marks, R30 Quest = 3k marks, and R36 Quest = 3600 marks.
Just keep at it and you'll get your marks.
The one thing I hate is all the low rank leves SE gives you that isn't worth doing for SP. I'm lucky if I get 1-2 Carpenter leves that are 30+. Been grinding on yew masks for SP.

Marks are 'randomly' awarded - I say that because unlike Regional Leves which will show the reward (including marks,) Local Leves don't list whether you will get marks or not in the reward line. There is probably a variable that would say a local leve will give marks, but the process of getting them is still really on a wing and a prayer.

You should be doing the most difficult leve ranks you get, complete all attempts. My speculation, is guild marks are rewarded based on the rank of the leve synth vs your rank plus the score of your turn in. Completeing all attempts is important for the highest possible score upon turning it in.

Say you are r15 you should be doing r20 leves, as these will get you the best possible chances for guild marks. I have dyeing and tailoring on weaver, and inlaying, fletchery, smelting, and bonecarving on gold. Weaver been getting shafted alot on not getting r30 leves.

They do seem pretty random. Just do any rank 15+ craft leves you see, and they will come over time.

Also, I've heard that the leves with a silver lining(as opposed to the usual gold) around the motif(the pic on the leve card thingy) have a higher chance to yield marks... No idea if that's true or not, but there you have it.

But yeah there's really no secret to them. Just keep at it, and choose your trainings wisely since it may be a while until you can afford another one.

Thank you everyone for the input. I have two more quick questions. The last poster mentioned completing all of the items for better rewards. Does anyone know if appraisal value is linked to guildmark rewards; meaning, should I be concerned about quality? My second question is, do I need to be on my correct job when passing in the finished items? I am usually on a DOW job, but should I say, switch to Carpenter to complete Planks Apleanty or is that unnecessary?

It doesn't matter what class you are when you turn in your leves. It does matter, however, the appraisal is to your chance of getting marks. It is still quite random to where you don't have to have a high appraisal score to get marks, just increases the chances.

1) Appraisal value appears to affect quantity (in tiers of 100) of marks but not chance of recieving them. I have recieved marks on as low an appraisal as 7. That being said however if you can get over 100 and then again at 200 appraisal the amount of items as well as gil/marks does increase. It is up to you whether this is worth the time or not, typically I just hasty hand any of the ones I had a decent chance of getting a HQ tier on because I don't perceive it to be worth the time or effort.

2) I always turn any leves I have in on ARC or LNC and I still get a fair amount of marks, so one would guess that this doesn't affect your chance to recieve marks.

I've gotten about 20K craft marks in 3 weeks. I did the ARM R20 and 30 quests for 5K. Unfortunately, the BSM and ARM quests are shared so I can't redo the same quests to get BSM marks. =( I just do 8 rank 15+ leves every reset and 2 of them will give craft marks. I just spam standard synthesis and make all the items. I tried doing bold synthesis for one leve and got the appraisal to 200+ but I didn't get any craft marks and all I got was an extra mat so it wasn't worth the extra time.

I do believe your rank vs the synth rank plus the turn in score do have something to do with getting marks, however difficulty of the synth itself may also play a role as well. Until SE finally breaks down and give us cons on the synth, we really can't compile accurate information on obtaining marks. But, I have experinced on very high ranked and hard synths (THM arms and PUG arms very hard synths for goldsmithing) and at the very least succeeding the leve will yield guild marks, but I always do all attempts to increase my chances in getting marks.

Definately do those leves which are higher than your rank.
