Hello! I love this forum and the thoughts of a lot of you on there as I have been reading the past few months and decided I must join in. After quitting Nov 3, the events of the player apology and the team reshuffling, then the resulting poll shortly thereafter made me realize I could possibly become a part of this game if I can commit to completely constructive feedback and for me to open up as well and begin listening despite how angry and disappointed I was at launch. And listen I did as the weeks drew nearer to today's point, I checked everyday for some news and absorbing all the points made here on this good forum.
I decided to reinstall the game and give it another shot after I noticed my interest building 4 days ago. But after playing again I realized it wasn't the game I was wanting to play. I more want to be a part of something that has never happened before in the history of SE. An open exchange of ideas between devs and players unlike any known before demanded by us, the fans. I see that a lot of you who used to play or still play XI have kind of suffered big time abuses from SE (I myself admittedly have not really gotten too far into that title). How many other businesses punish their most loyal of fans is beyond me. But punishment is what I feel when I log into XIV. I feel that there are far too many chaotic and downright absurd limitations set to try to balance this game or coerce us into other "chores", i.e crafting like a Cambodian sweatshop worker for Martha Stewart's bath goods line. I have no interest in their absurd take on crafting, so there goes 50% of the game play for me. I don't find it fun to come home after working all day to work once again in a game making virtual goods to keep this game's economy going.
Were they thinking about us? This is what we still want or wanted out of a game? 30 minute timers on repeat to do their version of mob mashing or gathering? I really do envy all of you on here that can play the game in the form it currently embodies and have fun. For me, I need to see more improvement yet that will hold me as a player. After completing a few leves, I walked to the Botanists guild to try to start that off and ended my night asleep at the helm, only to awake 3 hours later to see my sad Elezen just standing there looking off into space wondering "what's next?". So SE? What next? More patches dealing with the minutia that comes standard in today's MMOs? We are all curious how this will turn around and we can hopefully be a resource to SE in the coming months. For FFXIV, the work is needed and coming from all facets.

You don't have to craft if you don't want to, bro. Some of us like it. If you don't like it - don't do it. Like, I didn't want to play ninja in XI but I didn't complain that I was being shut out of content cause I didn't want to play it... I just didn't play it. Simple.

When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.
