Thinking about FFXIVFollow

As the title implies, Im looking for a new MMO, Cataclysm really didnt have a lot to offer, and I really dont want to return to FFXI.

I have gotten seom pretty horrible reviews on this game, but I want to give it the benefit of the doubt, and would atleast give it the old college try.

What similarities are there between this and FFXI?

Is it still dependent on parties? or can one solo without much trouble in between groups?

Has an auction house been implemented yet?

Is there playerbase 70/30 in favor of japanese like FFXI?

I have already ran the benchmark, and my system will run it (scored 2577)

So I guess thats the kind of things I wish to know before shelling out $50 on it, unless the ZAM community would be willing to toss a buddy pass my way, Thanks for reading.

You can actually get it for $30 now. Don't take the price drop the wrong way though. I was doubtful, my machine scored a 900 on the benchmark but I took a chance anyway, and I'm very happy with my decision.

It is possible to solo. There is no auction house, however the recent changes to the market wards make it much more user friendly than it was. I'm not exactly sure of the population on Rabanastre, but if you find a good linkshell the game becomes infinitely more fun.

I hope this helps. Beware: this is my opinion and it should be taken as such.

Hard to say yet, since the new productor is doing some more or less overhaul'ish changes.

The UI is clunkier for keyboard+pad, but works better for mouse users (although not good when compared to MMO's other than XI).

The market system is not quite as convenient as AH but it's close enough.

The game engine is fairly similar.

Mechanics like TP and multiclass systems make a return, although they don't work the same way.

You can solo like you would in the modern day FFXI (well enough).

Japanese are the majority, and server pops are fairly low, but it's not that bad.

The problem is that you won't have enough stuff to do. I'd wait, but that's just me.
We really want to compete against World of Warcraft and for example the new Star Wars MMO.

90% of the players in Besaid speak english, and it's a high population server.

If you are not a japanese,it's the perfect server for a newcomer.
