For Blacksmith Nailcasting is usually first for easy grind. Goldsmith I did Bonecarving -> Inlaying -> Smelting -> Gemcutting -> Fletching.

I've actually figured out that it is possible for me to buy all the BSM with marks from GLD, TAN and WVR as they are shared. The only crafting class that doean't share any of its books with other classes is ALC

Both BSM and GSM can benefit from Smelting and Nailcasting

Personally I would use

First points on BSM for Smelting (helps both with turning ore to nuggets, which you need a lot of)
First Points on GSM for Inlaying (helps with a lot of the Leves which means more chance at guild marks)

Beyond that Nailcasting is good for a few grind recipes and after that have a look at recipe you may want to grind on and buy books appropriately.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't seen any GSM recipe use Nailcasting (wait, was it Silver fish hook?) that worth anything. GSM need Bowyering (Armouredclad Cavalry Bow) and Painting Training (Serpent Shield) which can't be bought from GSM guild, apart from those two atm GSM doesn't need any weird outside training.
