So i was lvling my THM with a shield, rank 9-20 and then i hit fatigue. i was getting 200-300sp for shield and THM. So then i switched to my CON. rank 9 and started leveling that. At rank 9 you can get 400-600 sp per kill and my shield was getting 10% less of that because of fatigue. So it seems It doesn't matter what rank your shield is. The sp you get for your shield goes off of your current class rank. GLD,THM or CON. I ended up getting 0 sp for shield because of the fatigue. but it capped out at 24 starting from rank 9.

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this or not but if you want to get your shield rank up level GLD,THM and CON. You will rank up your shield fast. Or it could be a glitch that SE missed.

It's not a glitch, it's working as intended. After the static SP gain patch, you will automatically get Shield SP just by equipping a shield. Prior to the static SP gain patch you actually had to guard to get Shield SP, and it was rather random.

What he's saying is that you gain SP based on your main hand class, regardless of your shield rank.

Example: my THM is rank 1, and my shield is rank 49.
If I killed a level 1 mob, I would gain the same amount of SP on my Shield as I would on my THM. Even though my shield rank is 49 and I killed a level 1 mob.

I think I wasn't quite articulate in my response. I was making the point that Sentinel sp isn't tied to your shield rank but rather to your Main-Hand rank and you will get Sentinel SP mirrored by the SP gained on your main hand. It's not a bug or a glitch, but perhaps an oversight by the devs.

sorry if i wasn't clear. The SP you get for shield goes off of your class rank not your shield rank. I think its a weird design, but like i said if you play GLD,THM and CON your shield is going to level fast.

The glitch I hate from shield is when it is active but still shows it down.

I don't think they intended for shield to be the highest class for someone leveling THM/GLD/CON.

I expect some kind of adjustment to this. End the end, it's just a shield. Not a high priority.

Is there some Rank ~50 Sentinel skill that would make this matter a bit more?

Well, the Sentinel rank can also be used to initiate quests that require a certain rank.

For example, currently my highest class is Conjurer at rank 25, but I could start the rank 26 storyline quest...because my Sentinel rank is actually higher, at rank 32.

There is a r50 Sentinel skill- "Deflection", although I don't know the utility of it (I'm not r50 Sent so...)

The bigger oversight is if you can use Sentinel rank to progress the storyline/unlock the next tier of battleleves and faction leves.

Thats a good question about opening the leves and story line.. Now do you get any guild marks for shield (I don't think that you do)? My THM is currently 22 and my shield is at 25. I didn't use a shield on my THM and CON rank 1-9. I wish i did, I lost a lot of SP on that.

There's no Sentinel guild marks (Or guild) as far as I can tell.

Can the Sentinel rank by itself unlock the next tier of battlecraft leves? Does anyone remember this happening?
