couple quick questions about the changes Follow

before I attempt to come back to the game I have 4 questions.

1) how's the UI lag? It was taking forever to check my bags and sell items. I heard this was improved. Just looking for some confirmation.

2) is there a sort inventory function yet?

3) regarding crafting, I was hoping they would add a crafting panel and maybe a list of your known recipies, instead of just a tiny window that you toss random items into, hoping you find the right combination for a recipe. It's pretty ridiculous that they expect us to check a wiki or write everything down. Any changes to crafting? What about the failure of creating an item? I was failing a lot of recipes that were 5-8 skill levels below me.

4) another thing that made me quit was the fact that they decided to place high level mobs unavoidably in your path in low level areas. Gridania would be the best example. The terrain in that area is just paths, it's not an open area, as you all know, and there would be a high level mob in my path with no way to sneak past it and no alternate path to take. So I'd have to stand there, wasting time until someone happened by who would accidentally aggro the mob so I could get by. That was pretty ridiculous of them. Please tell me this has changed some.

1) better, ALOT better, all the ui lag is pretty much gone

2) yes and no, its not a full sort yet but there is a sort

3) you now can auto add your last 8 recipes without picking each material individualy out of your bag, this is gonna eventualy be a full recipe list of what you know

4) the high mobs are there still, but its not as bad as your making it out to be, yes there are agro mobs on the way to ives and crimson bark in black shroud, but guess what....those are not low level areas. tanquil and emerald moss had no extra agro on the way to them that i can remember

I can't say number 4 on your list has changed because although I've been playing since beta, I have never experienced the problem on the way to lower level camps.

An annoying Wild Hog sometimes spawn en route to Emerald Moss. But you should be able to avoid aggro if you A.) hug the walls, or B.) Wait for it to turn around. It's also a pretty rare spawn so you should be fine.

hey thanks :)

I don't know the area that I was referring to in point 4, but there's these couple mobs who 3 shot everyone, with all low level mobs in the same area. they pat up and down a narrow corridor too, so it's impossible to avoid them. I've had quest mobs flee past them, I've had quests beyond them that have caused me to fail.

just bumping an old thread, hoping for some new info.

Is the inventory completely sortable yet? I know a poster before mentioned there was a sort function, but wasn't fully sortable.

How's crafting nowadays? Seemed way too much of a chore back in beta, and failed way too often.

How about the quests? Back in beta there were certain quests in Gridania where you had to sneak past certain high level mobs, just to get to the area with the quest mobs. Is that still the case?

It's auto sort based on type of item in your inventory, with ammo/throwing weapon first -> primary weapon -> secondary weapon -> head etc. They haven't updated the sort ever since November patch last year.

Crafting now takes less step to prepare, and if you continue a previous synth it takes even less step to prepare. How much failing is determined mainly by how far you are from the optimal rank of the recipe itself (With being 10 ranks under the recipe means you can not even attempt it), the training required, the facility required, crafting attribute and luck (though attribute and luck is less determining than the other stuff).

The high level aggro mobs are still there, in some places they are much less frequent (Sandkin Peiste, Morbol or Gobbue now spawn much less frequent) while in other places there are new aggro mobs *coughs* Mosshorn NM *coughs*. There are many new NM, and about half of them aggro, with being an NM equate them to being higher level than what's in the area. However most of them stay in obvious dead end room with only a few casually roaming the main road and raining death on newbies.

thanks for the info. What would you say is a safe buffer to be at before I start crafting items of a certain level? Back in beta I was a 9 armorsmith (i think) and was routinely failing level 5 recipies 3-4 times in a row. I had enough of that garbage real quickly.

That depends what you want to make.
If the synth requires some sort of training and you don't have it, there's a moderate chance that you fail even if you are a few ranks above the needed rank.
If the synth recommends some sort of guild support it's the same.

You can improve your chances for success alot by using the right support and getting the trainings as soon as possible. Which will be alot faster now because the chance to get guildmarks as reward for r20+ local leves is alot higher now.

Another quite big improvement is the right equipment, mainly your main and offhand tool. +1/+2/+3 versions make a big difference as they increase the stats.
As r9 ARM you should get the r12 mainhand tool even though you can't take full advantage of it yet. The starter mainhand is not that great and you should see better crafting stats with the r12 tool.

Crafting recieved quite some changes since beta/release. It can still be a bi*** sometimes but with the right equipment and abilities it's possible to do synths 4-5 ranks above your rank without too much trouble.
Also note that some recipes are harder than others even though they might be same rank.
