Looking for CampsFollow

Later today will be the first attempt at a static party grind to 50.

I'm not looking for "fastest SP" - I've already abused 8-man Leves to 50 once.
I'm looking for a different experience.
I'm looking for a party experience similar to XI.

I'm wondering if anyone knows any good camping spots for 4-5 people at Rank 26.
As I have never taken this approach before I'm clueless what to even look for.

I'll be rating down anyone who says the word Coblyn or Doblyn.
[That's a joke. But really, I want a new experience.]

I think Mistbeard Cove should be good for a proper group around that level. Just avoid the efts and pirates until you get a few levels. So you will get to kill Yarzons, eyes, puddings (I think), and some other stuff I can't recall.

Wow - Are you sure?

I was thinking more like Cassiopeia or Copperbell (Ants) at 26.
Mistbeard seems more like a 36+ kinda place to me.

I'm not taking 15 people. Just a group 4-8
(probably closer to 4 since that's my static, plus I'll open a recruit for 4 more members).

I think hippocerfs, wolves, or goblins in Coerthas would be good for 4 at 26. I would start with wolves and does

in Coerthas - go get the aetherial gate up there once you get 27, move on to goblins around

in Coerthas...

Once you guys are about 29, you should go get camp dragonhead, and then go to the fort in the northwest corner of the map to kill hippocerfs

Cool. Thanks. We're about to put Mistbeard to the test.

I'll post some results later.

So far Crabs (Island Crab) around Cedar (N & S) are about 200
They take about 20-30 sec for group of 4.

Bloodshore Crabs (Giant Crab) are about 80-140 and take about 15-20 seconds.

Gonna mess around in Mistbeard and if that isn't that great we'll shoot over to Coerthas.

Which Camp is that SS near? Glory?

Here's a synopsis.

MRD 27, CON 26, LNC 24, LNC 24, ARC 24, THM 25
Pretty standard XI setup from 24-27.

-----

Goblin Thug @ Coerthas were by far the best SP but after the initial genocide they were far and few between. We got a fast 5000 there, but then were scrounging for Goblins. The Puk in the area are much too weak (about 50 SP in 2-5 seconds)

Goblins were 190-250 and died in about 10-15 seconds.
Once they were gone they were hard to find again. Repop is slow and population is low.

We fought Thickshells and Reef Anglers which are South of Goblins by the windmills.
These Crabs were about 120-150 but took much longer than Goblins. Maybe 30-45 seconds.
Anglers were 100-150 and about 30seconds.

More Gobs and a few Crabs would have been better than 80% Crab and 20% Gob, though.

-----

Mistbeard was slightly out of our range.

Orobon hit the Marauder for 400 a shot. Real pain on healing. Didn't bother to kill one.
Yarzon were about 200 each, but took forever to kill and hit like trucks.
Pudding was 225 each but took longer than Yarzon.
Fairly simple to kill, but takes like 45-60 seconds.

I think this would be better for small group around 29-32.

-----

Island Crab around Cedarwood (where we started) may have been best.
The group North of Cedarwood went extinct pretty fast - didn't try the group South of Cedarwood by the lighthouse. I think there may be a lot more Crab population down there.

They were about 200 each and slightly longer kill than Goblin. 30 seconds.
Easier than everything in Mistbeard, though, just not enough to go around where we camped.

-----

Didn't try Copperbell Ants & Mites. Going to try that next time / next week.
We all got about 1 level total in 2 hours. About 20-25k. Slow (and 3 camp hops).

Summary: I'd stick to Crabs @ Cedarwood over anything else (except testing Copperbell). Goblins are perfect if there is a high population density somewhere that I don't know about. Otherwise a party of 5 will eat them all for breakfast and be bored waiting for them to respawn.

EDIT: Then again you could probably Archer Burn a lot of these that I said were "too slow." We had a tanking Marauder & 2 Lancer & 1 Archer for our damage so I think it was a pretty "average" setup but more damage would make those other "slower" areas speed up.

Well at least it will be good in a few ranks ^^

The caves have a lot better spawn rate than outside areas in my experience. Which is a lot of the trouble grinding 40+ on anything interesting.

the hippos near the fort NW of camp glory would have worked real well for you guys. With a group of 7, most from 24-26 (one R22) we got 180 SP each on them with pretty quick kills... a good 4 person group would probably get nice SP there

Yeah, you mentioned Hippo but didn't say where specifically.

The Does & Wolves were too weak. Didn't see the hippos so we went to hunt Goblin.

I'll try Mistbeard again when we get a few ranks. Gonna be slow going.
We kinda bum-rushed our first jobs to R50 though so I wanted something a little more laid back.

I second the notion to try hippocerfs. Look for the bridge to the west of Ishguard (North west area of map). There are 20-30 hippocerfs in that area and I doubt you can kill them all before they respawn. Also, this is the best looking area in the game in my opinion.

In fairness, you said "once 29" which none among us were. So I didn't think to head there.

Also I said no thanks on Coblyn. I have done my time in Copperbell on Coblyns.

I don't know, though. I don't really feel like any of these camps were perfect so far.
I'll check out Copperbell & Camp Dragonhead next week, I think.

Thanks for all the help. I'll probably rez this thread next Saturday or Sunday.
