Anime Central 2011 call for panelists: Need an FFXIV playeFollow

Okay, so I have run the big FFXI panel at Anime Central for several years. (Not last year, there was no panel last year because I wasn't at ACEN.)

I'm looking to expand this over to include FFXIV. Problem is, I don't play FFXIV and have had limited exposure to the game via my room mate, who is a casual player. So in order to make the panel an inclusive Final Fantasy MMO panel, I need some help.

Anime Central is in Chicago and is one of the big anime conventions. If you are selected as a panelist, your admission to the convention may be compensated. I have up to 2 slots for comped panelists, in addition to myself, assuming we do 3 hours of panel. I might only get 2 hours, so that first badge is done as first-come, first serve. The catch is that if you already pre-registered and paid for you badge, the money won't be refunded. I'd still love to have you on the panel, though!

Please send me a PM if you are interested. The deadline is looming in a week.

Just wondering what a panelist for XIV would do ATM. I'm not trying to be a sourpuss but the devs can barely excite people who ARE interested in the game ATM at conventions.

(please don't get me wrong I WANT more people to play this and see it has potential and hopefully have the patience I and some of my friends do to see that eventual milestone reached, I just don't see a point in hyping this to the outside world yet other than it's still free)

Free 3-day badge, valued at $50, for 2-3 hours of work at the convention, and 2-3 hours of work prior to the convention for planning and discussion. So $10/hour, maybe?

Anime Central is at the Hyatt Regency in Rosemont, as well as the Donald J Stephens Convention center across the street, and the convention rooms of all the other attached hotels as well.

Well, if nothing else, this could be a chance for a sales pitch to convince all the XI-ites to give XIV another try. Only reason I'm not playing it right now is because I need a new PC to run it >_>

Mind i ask what did you do for FFXI panel?

A video would be nice, i wouldn't mind start up a panel for FFXI/XIV combine @ anime north in canada which is somewhat 1 week after your convention.

I already got corsair costume ... might made a new costume for it! maybe a mandagora or something FFXIV. (wonder what monster is FFXI/FFXIV exclusive beside the summons)

Back for the 2006 panel, I got permission from an AMV artist to use their FFXI video as my "opening credits." As my "closing credits" I used a video a friend did of a Maat RDM fight, set to rock music. Worked out pretty well.

The meat and potatoes of the panels has been discussion about the games, Q&As, etc. In 2007 we actually got to announce WotG as the new expansion at the panel, which was pretty sweet, as everyone had been at the con for 24 hours and hadn't heard anything about it yet.

I'm extrememely Interested in this, however theres a bit of a catch...

I'm a long time FFXI player, I had FFXIV pre-ordered since the earliest I could and have continued to play it. Granted I'm not well versed in FFXIV yet(Battle regimen system...Lolwut...Crafitng..Ehh Kinda)....

However...I'm an extremely well versed Panelist for anime conventions, and a good overall public speaker, I've personally ran dozens of Panels, and am curently the Panel head/Organizer for a Midrange convention that runs 24hrs...Only heres the catch...I live, In Canada, granted Ontario so I'm somewhat close to Chicago...If you can't find anyone to fill the slot locally, drop me a line on Zam and I'll bus/fly down..especially if I can get a hotel room through you(Yes I care about the health of the game that much I'd be willing to bus 14plus hrs)

Thanks for the explanation, I wasn't quite sure what it entailed... sounds like a fun event. I've never had the opportunity to attend anything like that, but it sounds like I would possibly enjoy it. Good luck ^^
