Locking WidgetsFollow

Is there a way to accomplish this? I find myself constantly moving widgets around and it gets really annoying.

With widgets firmly in hand, try this.

I think he means he uses a mouse while playing and is accidentally moving things around during gameplay.

Unfortunately, you can't lock them right now. Hopefully they'll implement it sooner or later. Good thing for me is I don't use the mouse so I don't have a prob with this.

Whilst you cant lock them you can backup the ui settings file which stores their location.
Note you will have to log out once they are set up so the file gets updated the first time.

The file is found in your documents / my games / final fantasy xiv / user / xxxxxxxxx

The xxxxxxxx part is an 8 character code relating to each character you have logged on, on that machine. If you have multiple accounts / mules then with a bit of guesswork you can find the relevant one by looking at the time stamps of the files.

Once you have the right folder you can make a copy of the "ui" file and if necessary the "mcr0" file (which contains all your macros)

Then in the future if you mess up then log out of the game, copy the ui file back into that folder and then logged back in again (same can be done with the mcr0) file as well.

You can also copy those files to a different machine in order to copy over layout and macros if you also use a laptop for instance or two gaming machines. You can even copy that to another character / account as well which I find far more useful as it means I dont have to go setting up all the key mappings for my mules.
