Edited to change meaning.
I realize now that the bells were a placeholder event so the could concentrate more on the important stuff.

now I what I want to know what you all thing. Would you prefer the quests to be...

A: generic MMO quests?
B: Quests revolving around the story?
C: quests involving stories that are not a part of the main quest. ones that would build lore of Eorzea.
D: Combination of all with nothing too serious

Sorry for my first and ignorant version of this post

I think the reason we are having the placeholder events in the first place is so they can work diligently on the new quests to make them fun and enjoyable.

All of these "events" we've gotten were probably planned/scheduled under the previous regimes watch. Rather than take time away to better these so-called events the new team probably just released them as planned to throw us a bone while focussing on more important things.

"Bell events" were placeholders and already completed. Play FFXI and even FMO shows that SE is obviously capable of creating events and quests beyond what XIV produced.

XIV is just a product of rushing it out to meet a quota or inflate a projection basically >.> Now the cleanup begins.

They aren't using their resources on events because they're using all their resources on stuff that actually matters, like quest.

ah yeah I realize that now. I'm really hoping there will be long quest chains with these quests with interesting side stories to build up the world of Eorzea that aren't connected with the main story. those were always interesting quests in FFXI :3

"Generic MMO quests" ARE quests that expand the world's lore, but people have ADD and don't bother to read beyond the quest objectives lines.

not really. A generic MMO quest is "oh no I'm out of feathers. please go kill dodos and bring me 20. thanks!"

Square is not known for "Generic MMO quests", so I have little concern there, considering their track record, and their desire to capture the feel of Final Fantasy. And they already did that, and have gotten blasted for it. Leves are your Generic Kill quests, there here, we (the people who like questing) are sick of them, and have been asking for something more. I can't see them pulling a 180 at this point and start releasing generic kill quests on top of already having leves. People who want to do those type of quests should be satisfied with the leves that are available.
