My Class Tree thoughts and hopes. Follow

With Yoshi's plans for class uniqueness looking pretty solid, here are some of my thoughts and hopes on where (not really sure how) classes will be implemented. MY = basically means can turn into said job.

at lvl??? con=whm/blm. at lvl?? whm=sumn??/devout??/sage?? blm=sumn??/elementalist??/sage??

at lvl??? thm=blu/rdm?? or bard/rdm?? blu=geomancer?? rdm=mystic/magic knight/sorceror (green mage??)

at lvl? pug=black belt/thief??? black belt=ninja? thief=assassin

at lvl? glad=paladin?/beserker?/drk?/warrior? pld=holy knight?

at lvl? mard=sam??/viking

at lvl? lancer=dragoon/templar???

at lvl? archer=hunter/sniper??

I know this is very messy. I would be very interesting if you had to have two different classes at a certain level to obtain another class. Say BLM and DRK at lvl?? to start a necromancer(though this job is very rarely in FF) Or glad and lancer at lvl?? to make a samurai. Thoughts?

My thoughts:

The existing classes can stay as is, even with their names. However, we could introduce true Final Fantasy classes via armor sets.

We could have multiple armor sets per class, i.e. Conjurer gets a Black Mage outfit and a White Mage outfit, Thaumaturge gets Red Mage outfit + 1 more outfit (summoner? idk).

Then abilities introduced after level 50 can further differentiate CON into Blackmage/whitemage and THM into Redmage/whatever.

I like the armor set idea. It fits well into the whole "armory" system that they are going for. I would also like to suggest perhaps items that are r/e as well. Created by each player through tailor/blacksmith/armorer. I would also like to see armor/weapons storage. Perhaps its own inventory tab that only carrys armor and weapons.

Very interesting, would that allow a BLM to equip a RDM sword then if weapons no longer determined a class? Might open up whole new possibilities.

I like the Armor idea as well. I don't think these armor sets should be synthesized though, but rather obtained through a quest. Like hidden guilds throughout the world (kinda how it was in ffxi)

I agree, changing classes shouldn't be done by swapping weapons. Rather, clicking a button on the character pages.

I actually really like that idea. Something I was thinking about as well was making "off class" skills more expensive (AP wise, like instead of costing 2 to equip it costs 3/4), and possibly cap them at like 80-90% of their "on class" potency. I think this might make players think a bit more about what skills are REALLY important.

I do not like the armor idea.

Hear me out now. If we changed to advanced classes via armor, that means we no longer can equip any other armor. Which means, we have to be reliant on the stats on said armor. And you KNOW just how great SE is at putting the relevant and useful stats on armor... ::cough cough::

I do belive you still beable to wear other gear, as all class gear and not the other class specific armor. I do belive it that way, because DoH and DoL, dont have their class specific or being mention, and DoH like Goldsmith dont have the favor clother either

hmmm thats a good idea i do miss my summoner and such i really like the idea where u can level up high enough from conjurer and such then branch out to seperate skills that there is genuis and it would help for that feel of uniqueness at least it would to me iunno i just wish we had more choices than the few DoM classes

It would work if the stats were worth it, granted, and if the armor was upgradable through quests or crafting (or both: quest to get the materials to upgrade, then get a crafter to work on it).
