Gamepad: Camera zoom works; I can't figure out chat scroll.Follow

It says to hold the main menu button, and then use the d-pad while holding it? I'm assuming the 'main menu' button is my triangle, the one that opens the side menu? So I press and hold it (and the side menu opens), and use the d-pad and all that happens is the target selector changes as if I'm not doing anything else special other than the d-pad.

What am I doing wrong?

Really like that they gave us two new gamepad features though. The camera one I 'really' needed, especially after the last update when they took away the cool 'just drop the camera to the floor and it gets closer' trick :)

Yes, I'm having the same problem figuring this out, as well.

I did discover how to scroll back thru the chat log without a mouse, if that's any consolation lol, which was a major 'find' for me, since the last thing I need to play this game is a third item. I don't have the auto text feature on, so I just hit / to open up the chat mode, and then page up and down work. I'm guessing everyone but me already knew that though.

Anyhow, if someone can enlighten us as to how to do this with a gamepad, it would be much appreciated.

This is right from Lodestone,

Gamepads now support the following functionality:
Camera Distance Settings
Use the gamepad Camera controls while holding the Auto-run button. Press up to zoom the camera in, and down to zoom out.

I use a PS3 controller, my Auto-run is L1 and my Camera controls are my right toggle stick. So I would hold L1 and then push up on the right toggle stick to zoom in or pull on the right toggle stick to zoom out.

It looks like SE edited out what the OP mentioned.

I tried scrolling through the chat log with a gamepad, but it looks like it wasn't working as intended, so SE removed that from the patch notes.

Edit:

I'm having the same problem as the op, the camera zoom works great, but i know im not doing the chat menu thing wrong...

If anyones playing on bluetooth and been having the issue where FFXIV needs to be restarted if your controller falls asleep, try disconnecting any other usb devices besides your keyboard and mouse, it worked for me. Even a dev on the motionjoy forums couldn't tell me why it was doing that.

Just like what Kirby said, SE didn't put in the scroll feature for a gamepad. It's was a typo in their notes.
They have removed the typo and made a new note showing the mistake.

I don't use my PS3 controller wireless, I use the USB cord for it. Only problem I have if sometimes if the cord gets pull on or unplugs I get a bluescreen and my PC resets. I know this is a problem with motionjoy itselfs and I haven't found any way to stop it. As for your problem sorry I can't help with that.
