[POLL] Next Patch Prediction! 「(゚ペ)Follow

#1 Mar 04 2011 at 11:18 PM Rating: Excellent
What do you think will be the -main focus- of the next patch?
Quests:11 (11.2%)
User Interface(UI):6 (6.1%)
Guildleves:2 (2.0%)
Items, Synthesis, and Gathering:2 (2.0%)
Market Areas:0 (0.0%)
Battle System:30 (30.6%)
Armoury System:3 (3.1%)
Company System:3 (3.1%)
New Content(Instanced PvE):7 (7.1%)
Just some minor tweaks/bug fixes.:25 (25.5%)
Chocobos/Airships:5 (5.1%)
Mog Houses/Auction House:3 (3.1%)
Other(Please explain in post.):1 (1.0%)
Total:98

I am leaning towards some minor tweaks/bug fixes, but if they do add something more next patch I am hoping for Mog Houses. If they randomly throw those in, and add a bunch of recipes revolving around furnishings...could seriously distract a lot of players for at least a week or two, until they could get around to the Battle System/Company patch. Hehe.

I'm 90%+ sure it will be the battle system.

Not the case I'm afraid:

Yoshida: Right now we're working on a high-end dungeon for hardcore players. We want to have the battle changes ready for when that's released. I can't give you an exact date, but I can tell you it will be sometime in the spring. When the dungeon is released, a bunch of battle changes will also come with it.
In the published list of the battle stuff we're planning on implementing, we hope to have pretty much most of that done sometime in the spring. In the spring you'll be getting that high-end dungeon and the first round of battle changes. Not everything, but the first round. You can't just change the rules overnight. There's a lot of stuff that has to change, especially with reassessing all of the attributes and actions of all the classes and rebalancing and adjusting stuff with the armory system. It's going to take a lot of time. But that first big change will come in the spring with the new dungeon.

I agree that it will mostly be minor tweaks this time. It looks like they are trying to tweak the game at this time and then start to add larger pieces of content. When the majority of the fanbase is happy with how the fundamental game works, I bet we will start to see the major changes.

Yeah, the repetitous use of "spring" says to me sometime between March and May. I would be willing to guess April, with the Battle System Part 2 patch coming in May.

I thought he specifically called out a two month plan for developing the improved battle system, but they have said they will be rolling out quests in every patch...seems pretty clear. News of what companies are coming at end of March.

It's too early to make this assumption but I'm sort of expecting the 2nd patch this month to be smaller tweak-fest like in February we had one normal and one mini patch. I hope more quests will come with every patch and that new ones have cutscenes too.

Like NayliaMR said there's a 2 month plan and quests coming out every month. So my guess is more tweaks to the UI and quests, of course.

Also, the first part of the battle system should be accompanied by a high end dungeon, mid level stuffs (don't remember offhand, sorry :x) and, like NayliaMR said company system! \o/ And I predict all of that will happen some time during the first half of May if all goes well. Just my 2 cents.

16b being a mini-patch would be fine had 16a not added much of anything at all. 70mb? Really? Not only that but it messed up certain aspects of the game:

Has anyone figured out how you're supposed to solo now that Coblyns and Doblyns have been beyond nerfed? I was on 50 archer running through copperbell and decided to test out the HP increase. Now, keep in mind, Doblyns always had very high defense and attack, it's just that their super low HP made them reasonable (not amazing, just reasonable)... Well, a multishot, bloodletter, foeseeker, and 5 or so normal shots later it was dead, and it had taken about 700HP out of me in the process. I also watched a rank 36 Lancer in nanawa take about 10-15 hits to down a lowly coblyn. iirc, at rank 29 coblyns in nanawa give you somewhere around 40-60 sp when killed. If a rank 36 can't kill it without some serious trouble (while getting virtually no SP from it), what options actually exist for soloing now? I'm lost lol... I was lucky I grinded a combat from 23-33 the day before the patch, but with other combats stuck at 20, or below, I'm not sure what options I have outside of leves.

Also, we're seriously overdue for new gear/items/grind synths... it's been over 3 months now. I doubt the B patch will add jack in that area, but here's to hoping!

tldr 15b was a terrible patch that hurt the game, 16a has been a terrible patch that's hurt the game, 16b will most likely follow suit, but I'd be reeeaaally happy if they surprised me on this one.

I just wish SE would deal with botting to get rid of those with 5+ rank 50 crafts because there's just no way these people can do that legitimately.
