Why Are there items as Quest rewards?Follow

I am Really dissapointed about the questrewards. One off the Many Things i Loved about ffxiv was the completely crafting Bäsed System, no signifikant items were to get without a crafter. But now they Start to Give items via sidequests.

I am very afraid that crafting becomes meaningless like it did in other mmos.

Once again, the pure craftingbased system was one of the best parts in ffxiv i pray that they stay that way!,,,

yah, they should not give items as quests reword, and no SP or EXP or gold, and no voice or cut-scenes.

keep it coming people, 2 days from now we will see people asking to remove quests and guildleve, and make it just like FFXI were the only way to progress is by grinding.

Lets just take out all the fighting and make it a game about doing emotes and chatting.

No problem here, you get a few items from leves but as long as they dont over do it and keep crafting vital to the game then I'm quite happy. (roflmao afp ftw (thats 'away from the puddle' lol) )

It was my hope that the quests worked in a similar manner to the way some of them in FFXI worked, the initial quest could be very simple but chain together along the way. At the end of the storyline on the last quest you would receive a unique or hard to get item for helping them out. Also that certain quests wouldn't open until you were past a certain point in a mission storyline as you would then have knowledge of the situation at hand to be able to help them on their quest.

For example, in the CoP storyline as you encountered characters that were involved with the story or had dealings with Tavnazia quest story lines could open up for them. One of these quest involved a man in Lower Jueno needing a chameleon diamond to determine which of the three cuties in the jewelry store was the best for him. The diamond was random drop from gigas in the Tavnazian area and he wouldn't tell you of the quest til you had been there. A simple quest but I like how they implemented it. Also I feel they have oversimplified the quests a bit, I'm not asking for Elder Scrolls: Oblivion level of vagueness, but I miss the times in FFXI where they had a random item drop to you that you had no idea what it was for and it made people seek out what the purpose of that said item was (unless they pull a Doll Gizmo again).Smiley: lol

So long term I hope they follow the idea of having quests that tie into the progression of main storylines that serve to flesh out little pieces of the story and give you a lil reward to boot.

Dont understand why everyone is rating him down cuz IMO its a valid concern that giving items as reward effs up the market for those rewarded items. The reward should have been SP or faction or unique non tradeable (vanity) items or something like that.

not like any of the rewards are good anyways. I prefer XIs way of questing. Most all quest opened up new things to you.

Fighting doesn't = 111111 mash and a lagged crapshoot as to whether or not your stamina bar is actually going to even show the right skill you're using. But that's just me. I could be wrong.

We already have a very vocal minority ( who on these boards seem to be the majority now ) crying to make FFXIV into FFXI-2.

The problem is without giving gear, there'd be NO reward at all. We have that same vocal minority of FFXI fans who are having heart attacks when someone mentions giving SP/EXP through quests because grinding is "how it should be". Then you have another subset crying they don't want the quests to give gil because "there's too much gil already" ( which is funny since I guess I'm the only non-overflowing-rich FFXIV player:p ). And now we have people that don't want gear. If they handed out crafting mats ( the only thing left to give ), you'd have another flock of idiots crying "They've killed hunting/gathering!!ZOMG!!". So what would be the point of having quests in the first place, outside of people who want to read books/watch movies ingame?

Actually Balance is unobtainable in an MMO. Comprimise is the key, and comprimise means we all lose a little bit but gain as a whole.

Crafting will get you +1 items.
Questing should never -ever- give HQ items.

Questing also fills in the gap of items that players don't make anymore. Who really makes sheepskin subligars to sell? People, at least on istory, are primarily selling mid to high level gear, leftover gear, or misc stuff. Rarely are lower level people taking the time to craft this stuff anymore unless by request.

Also, the NPCs sell most of the quest reward gear, even if its for 40k and stuff.

Quests offer an alternative to buying/ searching for the gear on the market and for people who do not want to craft their own stuff- of course this will alter the market a bit for selling for crafters but most people take the easy path being buying their stuff- so it should barely hurt the "crafting" market. Unless they start making some of the more valuable crafted items obtainable in quests then this seems to be the best reward system. Still silly that they didn't allow people to get SP/XP off of mobs as normal though- perhaps it's a preemptive bug fixing motive, or maybe an abuse preventative.

Hopefully they will change it when the battle system and other game fixes come into the game and the deeper content starts pouring in. I would like to see more unique items and abilities from quests such as Blaze Spikes in FFXI kind of things.
