1. I haven't seen mentioned anything about Guild Marks, but I think they changed it. I had a leve left from before the patch, just turned it in and got almost 2k GMs.

2. I'm really really loving the continue synth option

3. I like how they changed "this item requires support etc..." to "this item would benefit from support"

The option to continue a synth during a local leve makes doing local leves much more bearable. Even using a controller, the previous system required too many button presses and just soaked up far too much time--the new option really streamlines the process. Now if they could just extend it to normal synthesis, it would be perfect. :)

And yes, "requiring" a certain level of crafting support when it wasn't truly required always bugged me. "Benefit from" was a small, subtle change, but for new players and veterans alike it's sure to ease some apprehension over attempting those synths that were affected by the change.

I do like the changes they made for leve crafting, I really do. Categorizing by level, streamlined synthing for leves, I just wish they had added more current level leves. I remain optimistic, all in good time.

I dunno, this is the first time I've ever filled up my Locals on just 2 crafts in a single city. My poor TAN has been getting 0-1 leves that would even net SP let alone assist in getting the next rank. I got 3 20's and a 30 and then my GLD got 4 20+ leves as well. Maybe it's still random, but the odds appear to have increased a ton.

Agreed, Perrin. These changes are nothing but good.

The 'continue synth' option is invaluable - saves so much time. Too bad it doesn't apply to "Normal" (i.e. not Local leve) synths...

The improved availability of leves at your rank is also a huge improvement.

I too noticed the change to the wording of facilities buffs - it's good that they're finally showing an attention to detail.

Now, if only they balanced the relative work/resources necessary to level each craft. Some are far more easy (and economical) to level than others...

Maybe I missed it but I don't see anywhere at all were it says they increased craft leves available per rank, all they did was sort them by rank. Anyone?

I don't think they announced more leves exactly, but I have noticed a lot more rank appropriate local leves available.

From the patch notes: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/topics/detail?id=26b05ca12f4a3f28e2208f9e3a3f73b725452113

Quote:
Local levequests have undergone the following changes.
Players can now choose from among the suggested rank categories of 1–, 20–, and 40– from the local levequest accept/refuse interface.
*
Suitably ranked local levequests are now more readily available.

*
When levequests of the same name are available at the same time for different ranks, only one may be selected
.

In looking at the leves available to me, it has been apparent that are are more appropriately ranked leves to choose from. That said, the two bullets are especially telling. The first bullet is self-explanatory. The second bullet implies that the same leve can be offered at more than one rank at the same time - meaning there are more leves to choose from at your rank.

They do, they have added Walnut Wand of Elemental - Crimsonbark for Carpenter and Electrum Circlet - Brokenwater for Goldsmith at the very least, that much I can guarantee.

I don't know about anyone else, but the Local Levequests are just as useless as they were before, at least or my Alchemy. Nothing remotely helpful SP-wise, and the rewards are still terrible and worthless. I haven't experienced anything with Guild Marks yet, but hopefully those are given a bit more freely. I would still like to get my other training books and Extrapolation sometime soon. Hopefully other crafts are experiencing a better result.

I -do- like the new format for the Local LQs, however, I just hope they decide to offer more options for higher ranked crafters. So all-in-all, I have mixed feelings on the DoH changes.

I am very pleased that they finished the animation speed ups on DoL though...yay, Botany! ^^;

I'm not sure why you think they're not beneficial SP wise. They still give more SP than the exact same synth done outside of a leve. They just reduced it from ~200% to ~150%. Item rewards have always been useless, I'll give you that. But since local leves are the only way to acquire crafting guild marks they certainly do have a purpose (i.e. not useless).

I do wish there was more to crafting and gathering though, such as side quests, involvement in behests, etc. But while this update didn't add any content for crafters, it did wonders to streamline crafting leves. I'm really hoping since crafters and gatherers are unique "classes" that they'll see more equal content that combat classes see.

As long as I still see 500 SP a synth at r47 I'm happy. Heck I'm even happy with 350+ SP, because unfortunately r50 is the cap for recipe and I will never see them again outside of leve. Guildmark chance is significantly better, last 2 reset I have had 2/8 and 3/8 giving marks. Maybe it's just luck but to be honest, at least I'm not doing local that give 0.00000 SP a synth for a chance to get marks anymore. More high rank leve is always welcome.

I meant a far as Levequests that are high enough rank to actually give me SP. The only thing Local Levequests are good for (to me on Alchemist at least) are guild marks. And once I have the abilities I want from the guild, there will no longer be any reason to do them. I should get a decent number of Rank 40+ Leves, and there are none. I have NEVER seen a Local Levequest for Alchemist above Rank 35. Ever. Where's the rank 40s? The rank 45s?

I heard the 40+ local leves are only given out in the city that the guild belongs in. But I can't confirm that as I don't have any crafting class at rank 40 yet.

Also, one thing I'm a little upset about is that they removed the screen which showed how many materials you had remaining for the selected craft. I know removing screens was incredibly good for crafting, don't get me wrong, but it was nice to monitor my inventory after every craft.

I don't really have a suggestion to monitor materials without going backwards UI-wise. Just my observations.

eh? Leve items were never in your inventory. Unless you're talking about non-leve crafting which I don't really do.

Yeah, I mean during non-leve synthesis.

Initially, when I saw the combined ranks, 1, 20, 40, I had my doubts about how effective this would be in providing worthwhile (read SP focus) leves. Most specifically, it doesn't do a thing for me if my 35 wvr and 32 lth is offered nothing but 20 leves.

However, this is simply awesome. I've had no problems at all in filling out my 8 locals with just these two jobs. As a matter of fact, I bet, most often, I could fill out one job from the 3 cities. The SP is really worthwhile now too. I'm getting anywhere from 3.5 to 5.0K per leve (depending), so on average, say 30K ish per reset. To me, this makes leveling a craft almost bearable now. Incidently, 40 leves have been available for my wvr in all 3 cities. Obviously, the 'sweet spot' for these will be at the lower end of the rank categorization - i.e. - R25 where you can do R30 leves, R35 where you can do r40 leves, etc.

As far as guild marks go, I don't see any change, but it's random enough to begin with, so I can't say one way or the other.

I absolutely love the changes they made. The continuous crafting for local levels is GREAT. sometimes I feel comfortable just spamming standard while I concentrate on something else, and not having to look back every so often to reload a new synth is fantastic. I kind of wish they had carried it on to normal synths as well somehow, but I'm still happy with how they changed crafts selected through the recipes menu, as well as starting my cursor at the "requested items" instead of the "load a material" slot.

The recipe crafts now will take me directly from the chosen recipe to the main hand button. Not only that, they took away having to decide between variable synths with the same material when you choose from the recipe menu. As a low 30s ARM, I'm having a great time not accidentally choosing iron toes then having to go back and choose iron barbut visor. Much less awkwardness for me, thank you for the great update SE.

Previously before the update, local leves are randomly generated by name and then by rank. This basically means that, if a city has 10 different local leves with different names, you will not get all 10, maybe 6 only. As you've known, each leve has different variety in term of rank, for example the choker leve from Roarich in Uldah (In the Sultana's Wake) can be r10, r20, r30 and r40. Before the update, you can only have one single variety of the leve present, let's say r20. What happens is that, if for some reason you're r14 (under r15) you will not get the leve at all because you don't meaet the requirement! If you're rank 35+, you still get it as r20 leve as well.

Fast forward to the update, after randomly generating the leves by name, leves will be available for all variety of ranks they could have. For instance, if the In the Sultana's Wake leve appears, you will be able to get it as r10, 20, 30, 40 but only once. If you're r14, you can get the r10. If you're r35+, you can choose it from 10-40 (of course you would pick the r40). Moreover they also increase the variety for r40+, for example before the patch there is only one single r40+ leve in Gridania for CRP but after the patch there are 3 total so far for me.

They also adjust the hand-in location accordingly to the rank. You won't be asked to hand in a low rank leve in high rank camp, though you do get to hand in high rank leve in low rank camp but you wouldn't complain about that would you?

They might have increased the guildmark rate now, since I've gotten marks both reset so far.

You forget a few things:
1. You can only get leves +5 ranks above you. If you're r34 and under you will NOT see any r40+ leves. Simple, you can't do any synth that are 11 ranks above you.
2. R40+ leves usually only appear in city with the guild for that job. There are exceptions of course, but you can always found R40+ leves in your guild city. Always, at least for me, I've gotten 3 R40+ leves in both reset for Goldsmith in Uldah and 2 then 3 R40+ leve for Carpenter in Gridania in two different resets.

Two things they still need to change:
1. Show the marks reward when you take leve. It is still random as in you won't know until you hand it in.
2. There are still leves with synth that require Guild Support in cities without Guild.

Another note: If you're r30-34 you will still get r30 and r35 leves. However they appears more often in your city with guild as well, which might be the reason why a lot of people are missing out leves their level. They appear in category ~20, I've gotten several r30 leve as r27 LW and r28 ALC, they are not missing.

I love the changes to crafting and local leves.

I can live without knowing if I'll get marks for a leve.
The number of local leves offered for each rank is almost too good to be true. I don't know why people would complain about that.

You'll never see 8 local leves with your desired rank for one class. If you want to skill up faster you can grind.
If you do local leves you get gil, materials (and not all of them are crap) and marks, all for free. No shards or crystals needed. Free SP/EXP and you even get rewarded for doing them, what else do you want?

The only thing I'd still like to know are the ecaxt effects of craftsmanship, mag. craftsmanship and control.
... and why I can synth an item 20 times in a row without coming close to a break and suddenly a synth decides to activate apocalypse mode and explodes no matter what I do.
