Cancelling Macros and the New Targeting SystemFollow

First off, apologies if this has already be discussed in another thread - I haven't see it mentioned anywhere recently.

Anyway, pre Patch 1.16 you used to be able to cancel a macro by either triggering the same one or any other.

I've not yet been able to work out how to do this post patch and was wondering if anyone else has worked it out?

Also, with regards to the new Targeting System (All, Friendly, Party and Enemy), is there a way to toggle this off/disable it/alter the keys used to cycle though the targeting types/etc. at all?

I only ask because when I'm fighting (using keyboard and mouse) I often cycle though my Action Bars by using the up and down arrows, but depending if the Action Bar is 'up' or not depends on whether I'll move an Action Bar page or if I change my Targeting preference, which can be a bit of a pain in the rear TBH.

Thanks in advance =D

I encounter the same problem with my gamepad (rumblepad 2), my targeting is constantly switching and I'm getting bashed on by a second mob because I can't target it. Really frustrating.

I would like to know also, I was having problems after the patch with certain macros that had wait timers in them. They would announce when my ability was back up with the wait function in it. Now post patch the entire wait time would have to run until I could use another macro. I ended up just erasing all the wait lines out of my macros for now.

>.> im now really irritated, this happens to me coooooonstantly, ive died several times because of this.
im irritated now because i asked ingame both my LS and shouting if anyone else has this problem and eeeeeeveryone said i was crazy and that its a client side issue lol
i use a keyboard and mouse. since beta the action bar, while actively using it, will randomly stop cycling up and down and i noticed that the yellow half circle that highlights abilities dissapears. well, it was super anoying before 1.16 but now instead of just having to RE-PRESS enter which i shouldnt have to do in the first place, is now a matter of life and death due to the target cycling mode using the same damned buttons >.>
this is one of the main fixes ive been hoping for since beta.

Just a heads up. I worked out what was going on with this (I had/have the exact same issue). Bit hard to explain, but basically it's down to rotating the camera view with the mouse after the Action Bar has appeared, which is generally after you perform your first action against the mob or you bring up your Action Bar 'manually'.

What I do when I get this 'glitch' is deselect the mob, then reselect it or perform an action against it. This seems to refresh the Action Bar and you are free to cycle up and down the pages, until you rotate the camera and again you are back to square one...

The new targetting system is incomplete.. It's a problem, but one I'm not surpised SE threw at us. It probably would've taken them another month's work to allow us a way to simply lock our current target selection.. And that's assuming they could even figure that we'd find such a thing useful.

I don't understand why they didn't make the target toggling like the Gamepad/Camera zoom they just added. Why not just make it so that you have to press and hold L1 and then use the pad to select your type of targeting?

While I think some are happy with the new gamepad targeting system, the sense I get is most are not. Hopefully, they will modify this or at least allow us to toggle this off/on in the menu config.

I have to admit, the first few days, I found this more of a hindrance than a help, but actually, I'm starting to get used to it. I find that for behest and party activity, toggle to 'enemy' and use F9 for self targeting. Still not optimum by any measure, and for real party setups with mages in the back row, it's inconvenient switching back and forth between enemy and party. Let's hope eventually <stpc> <stnpc> <bt> etc. with improved macro capability.

The addition of those Placeholders (as they are referred to on Lodestone) is what I, and I'm sure many others, have been waiting for since Beta =(

Implementing those instead of this new Targeting System would have been a much better idea IMHO.

i still can't for the life of me figure out why they didn't just take the existing battle system/UI from FFXI and add some new features/streamline it. i mean i know their reasons, they just weren't very good ones, and involved lots of piles of yen.

well i couldnt stand having to hold ctrl/alt + # to activate my spells and abilities, just pressing 4 (for instance) is waaaay more convenient for me and alot of other MMO players so im not sure if copy pasting FFXIs UI to FFXIV would be a very positive or progressive thing to do... its considered a clunky and outdated UI by the majority of the video game industry.
streamlined action bars FTW!
