How can I find out the type of elements (earth, wind, fire, ..etc) used in the abilities? Is there a list? I can't find it.

As I do my point allotments, it would be nice if I know this info.

Pls help.

Simple. Click on the database button, abilities, then choose your class and you will see a comprehensive list of all the abilities with their elements displayed.

That option will give me a list of abilities for different classes.

I guess I was not clear. Let me try again.

Take for example the ability "Victimize II" for Pugilist. Is it an ability based on Fire, Lightning, Wind, Earth, or something else? If I know that it's Wind, then I can up my allotment points for wind to support it. That list does not help clear that up. It's only a list of abilities and what they do, not how they can be improved.

Thanks for trying tho.

I don't know the answer to this question, but I do have to say that if directly boosting stats like Int or Pie has only a marginal benefit on magic damage or accuracy, I have a hard time believing boosting elemental resistances is going to make much of a difference either...

It's hard to min/max when the game stats are basically broken...

On the topic of monster attribute changes and possibly player attribute changes, can you go more into detail on this? A lot of players feel everything is still a bit out of whack when it comes to the current attributes like dex barely affecting Accuracy or Shell barely reducing an Imps Blizzard damage.

Our Lead Battle Director, Matsui-san, is currently undergoing--they're basically going to change the equations for how stuff is calculated, all of these attributes. As they balance each of the classes with the new balance system, they're going to go through and check each action. And then see how that needs to be adjusted, and reassign each attribute as they go along.

Since it's going to be such a huge undertaking, it's going to happen in steps--it's not all going to change in the next patch, but over the next few patches we hope to change it. But we want to reassess everything, so it's not like we're going to be looking at one broken thing, we're going to be changing pretty much everything.

One of the reasons that you have some of the things not affecting something at all--like Shell not working on a lot of spells--is because right now a lot of the calculations for that stuff is too complex. Because it's so complex, it's difficult to balance. They want to make it simpler, not just so the players know what's going on--having to have some super program going on in the background to understand the calculations--but also so when the devs do balancing, it's easier for them to balance.

NP I am sorry I was not as useful as I had hoped. If you check the ability lists you will see that for at least some of the abilities they do in fact state the elemental affinity. Here's a couple of examples:

Red Lotus II
Seismic Shock

As you can see Red Lotus II has 100% fire and Seismic Shock is 100% earth.

I (wrongly) assumed that all abilities had this description because my main classes are mage classes and for most spells you have a break down of that spells attributes. My bad. However having the elemental affinity in the description of most DOW classes abilities is quite rare. I haven't searched all the abilities but so far I have only found these two.

It's too bad that many of the abilities are not stated in the same way as the one you used. That would've been nice. To see what portion is Earth, or Fire, or Thunder, or .. etc.

I guess my mind is still stuck in XI. Back then it made it clear on what element I need to "up" to help boost abilities or WS. I feel like I'm guessing most of the time now.

Voke was red, or fire based (yeah right!) and exhaustive enmity testing proved that stacking fire didn't do crap. Just like darkness didn't help last resort, etc. Not only that, in game text clearly stated that elemental affinity only affected defensive calculations so even magical WS (lol!) and spells wouldn't benefit from it.

The closest it ever came to were the sea WS gorgets but again, had nothing to do with elemental affinity either.
