Leve Reset/In-Game Time Counters and Server DowntimeFollow

I'm not sure if anyone thought about this but it sort of dawned on me. This is probably one of the first times I can ever recall where they had to close down the servers unlike the downtime for server maintenance. But it has me wondering if the in-game time is still currently rolling. Such as, as I write this it reads it's "03/14/13" supposedly in Eorzea, but with the server down, is that what it really is? When the servers finally are pulled back online will the leve reset and in-game timers be still up-to-date on places like ZAM here, and with widgets like the Windows Sidebar and the versions for the Android and iPhone?

I know nobody probably has an answer right now. But I still wonder if time is passing in the game or if everything has been more or less frozen in place. In other words, in Eorzea the date/time will pick up where it was last left off at when the servers were brought down. And will the creators update their software or widgets to reflect this change?

I was wondering this too actually. I guess we'll have to wait and find out when the servers come back up.

I use the android app one on my phone but I don't believe the author updates it anymore since then. Will be a shame if it is rendered useless due to that. And since alot of sites use the leve timers I wonder how easy it will be to reset them to reflect the game time changes.

SE is God in FF so I would guess anything is possible but I think they would try and sync the game clock up to what it should be on the websites and widgets. There may not be a whole lot of FFXIV clocks out there but there should be a fair number of FFXI ones. The discussion has been on the FFXI version of this site because there are plants that could die and AH items that would be sent back depending on how they handle time.

Like he said.. we'll see I guess.

as long as the server's CMOS is still powered the time is still rolling. if that's not the case the lobby server is still up they would sync it to that.

100 anima.

100 anima is all I ask when the servers are brought back to life.

Just because the servers itself are keeping track of real world time doesn't mean the in-game time is still rolling. As MrTalos just mentioned, doing this for the FFXI servers would make plants in Mog Houses wither and die, and their auction house would be completely barren. One possible scenario I might see actually, is if they are synced back up (IE the clocks/timers still carry the correct game-time and so on.) they might just roll the servers back to the time just before the servers were brought down. All items in the auction houses will remain, and the plants would be treated as if a week (or however long it takes) never passed.

Now since FFXIV doesn't have any of these issues I suppose we'll just be left with the option to replace our leves from the last rollover.

I hope the same, last I played I had less than 30 anima left and not playing for 3 days before the servers went down barely even replenished anything.

Well as it stands, when servers come back we should have have Anima and Guardians' Favour all or partly full and Class/EXP Surplus and Leves all reset. To be more precise with the anima and GF, you get:

1 anima every 4 hours
10 GF every 12 hours

So for one week = 7 days = 168 hours, you would regen

168 ÷ 4 = 42 Anima
168 ÷ 12 x 10 = 140 Guardians favour

So if you were down to around half af your GA and anima, you should find it close to full after a week.

Edit: and also just for completionist' sake, to regen both to full from scratch;

100 x 4 ÷ 24 = 16.6 so around 2½ weeks to regen 100 anima
200 ÷ 10 x 12 ÷ 24 = 10 days to regen 200 Guardian Favour

Edit 2: Note to self - Maths = rate down

Wow...I had never actually done the math on this before.

They seriously need to increase Anima regeneration rate...

Timer actually works off the clock, and does not count only when the servers are online.

Otherwise we'd have extremely variable behest times, leve reset times or other counters every single time the servers go offline. There's no real diffirence between them going offline for an hour or two, or going offline for a week.

At first you had me thinking there... but now i'm stuck thinking what we've been reduced to when we are worrying about time passing in an imaginary world when we cant access it :P

Back on track though I'd assume the time will stay as it should, as long as the data from when they were taken down is still in tact.

Or better yet offer chocobos and airships. I think the anima duration would be fine so long as we had another way of getting around. As it stands, it does get pretty painful when you're anima starved.

Eorzea Clock by Khorbin. Free version is 1.2 but the paid has been updated to 1.3 or something I believe. However, it hasn't been updated past that since sometime last year.
