Just hit 40 THM before servers went down, logged in yesterday for the first time and quickly realized that it is a long painfully slow road to 50.

Am I missing something, or is my best course of action linking Rank 40 leves and Raptor grind parties? Please advise.

Thanks in advance for the time and meaningful responses.

Yea, that's pretty much all you'll have for options.

You can also throw in Behest at BW/Halatali until Rank 45/46. I'd stick to Ul'Dah/Camp Broken Water/Camp Halatali for leves as they tend to be the popular spots ont he servers, and keep a camp in Coerthas under your "favoured locations" for quick travel for Raptor groups.

Yeah those are pretty much your best 2 option but the thing is... They are great SP.

Raptor party's give some insane sp/hour as well as the few Broken water leves you should be doing. (Ranine and Dunesfolk)

If you link leves regularly, it's entirely possible that you can hit 50 by the end of next week.

Don't listen to people that suggest you to link R40 leves....there are a TOTAL of 6 leves worthwhile doing with links. Only 2 of those are R40, the other 4 are R30 and if done on 5 Star with links, still net you better SP than any other leve besides the 2 R40s mentioned.

If you get a group of 4 people, linking those 6 leves each reset, you will rank from 40 to 50 in 2 weeks latest.

Unless they've magically updated and patched the game without anyone being aware, there is still no difference in SP gain between 3-5 stars. Also with the glitch fixes to those rank 30 leves, they've become less viable as an SP source. Grinding Raptors in a a party is a much more efficient form of SP gain apart from Dunesfolk for Dinner & Necrologos: Ranine Reveries.

Ranine/Dunes/Levin/Verdure(iirc)/Hoary Toads are optimal 33+ as far as SP leves.

There's one more to that list that I can't remember atm for the life of me.

Im not sure what you mean by this...

Just to elaborate on this so people know what your talking about. The following is the rank needed to be able to get up to capped SP from the leves.

- R30 Necros cap sp at the following ranks on these stars~

1 star: 20. 2 star: 26. 3 star: 32. 4 star: 38. 5 star: 44.

- Ranine~

1 star: 30. 2 star: 37. 3 star: 44. 4 star: 51. 5 star: 58.

- Dunes~

1 star: 35. 2 star: 42. 3 star: 49. 4 star: 56. 5 star: 63.

Testing credit goes to Kanican.

I meant they're some of the more ideal leves to do post rank 33 for SP.

Nobody has mentioned the fact that Sphene Dobs are still a viable source of SP, particulary for a duo group. Furthermore, now that theyve given dobs more HP, there are fewer soloers camping them so the camps are usually wide open. The respawn rate of dobs is so high that the sp/hr can be from 15-30k. I know that those of us who ranked up before the SP tweaks are probably sick and tired of killing dobs, but they are still a viable source of sp for higher ranked players.

They're not bad duo, but still not nearly as efficient as a Raptor grinding party.

And what makes you think you know about how SP is calculated? SP is capped on stars corresponding to your current rank...For example you will get 400 SP on 3 Stars on R 38ish, but would get the same on 4 and 5 stars, cause it is capped for your current rank, not because it is broken. On R40 you will get more SP for doing it on 4 Stars and so on...I love getting downrated for stating facts and other people acting smartassish w/o even having tested anything but acting as if they know better. Even w/o the glitching of these Necrologos Leves, they are still the best SP after Dunesfolk and Ranine(The R30 leves will get you 8-12k SP w/o aspect, and 15-20k with in a matter of 10minutes...). And yeah Raptors may be viable for getting SP, but doing these 6 leves with 4 way links will get you 70-100k SP in 2h...after 4 resets you will hit Fatigue 3 on your class, which makes grinding on normal mobs obsolete unless you like torturing yourself. Raptors may be good SP, but nowhere near that SP gain compared to that time. I'd rather do leves 4 times 2h each and hit Fatigue 3, rather than grind on raptors which will give me less SP over time compared to that. Why should I even bother grinding on Raptors if I could hit Fatigue 3 with leves only anyway(not to mention with investing way less time)

Just do the maths, but yeah I guess, some people just like to waste their time.

If you're under R49 and testing the SP cap out on Dunes you won't see gain above 2 stars, so it's kinda easy to make the assumption that there is no difference.

That is a good point Shezard, I never thought of it that way!

Lately I haven't been able to find leve link parties though, and it seems somewhat easier to find raptor parties. No need to worry if everyone has done their leves already or not, or if they have "saved" those same 3 leves that everyone likes to link. So I can see why people do them. But yes, I'd take a leve link party over a raptor party any day.
