Could someone try to translate croythegreat's post at the end of the last page? Yoshida commented a bit more after his crafting post.

The user "Bahamut" said to Yoshida complain about the grand company, class naming change, auto attack, battle balance that dev announced before should be processed (implemented, in meaning) before touching craft.

Yoshida said he will reply these issues in other posts, first of all, grand company system will be explained from this weekend to next week.

The other used complains about "you said much and implemented less".

Yoshid said that the dev have separate function teams and implementing many features at the same time, but these features are all connected together to form the total game balance. So please understand that the dev are not asleep.

Yoshi-P posted another comment about surplus SP just a few minutes ago.
(I am not sure the English translation about 潜在値)

He is considering to end surplus SP system at the timing of raid dungeon goes live.
At the bottom line he say players should have the right to determine their own play style.

Hello all, this is Yoshida.
Thank you discussing about surplus SP.
We know there are many requests (about remove surplus) in here and the threads of other region, we are basically considering to remove surplus SP when raid dungeon goes live.

I believe its the best to let players to determine their own play style.

Honestly.. I was glad to see the Yoshida is quite a PvPer..
I don't get why people is so much against PvP.. it makes me think they're afraid of direct competition with other players... **** we even have a coliseum in Ul'dah.. we leaving that to NPCs alone..? :/
Still I don't see how it would ruin the game as I've read.. we all agree about that getting killed out of the blue while we're doing our own business is bad.. but it's something that can be got around.. for example with a duel system in which you engage in friendly combat on mutual agreement.. nobody dies, nothing is lost.. there's only victory and defeat like in a boxing match..

Yawn, old topic and somewhat irrelevant to the discussion. Basically the gist is, there are more important things to do right now. I don't think anyone would mind a Colosseum style being added if the rest of the game wasn't in such a tragic state.

community rep posted on a possible return of 2hrs for each class.

Quote:

Greetings everyone! We have heard about the possibility on 2 hour ability straight from the development team! Without further ado here's is what Akihiko Matsui, the FINAL FANTASY XIV Battle lead, had to say!

As of now, we are holding an overall review on the battle system, including the review on actions for each class. This may sound like a self-applause but as one of the creators of FINAL FANTASY XI, we feel that a lot of 2 hour abilities were very useful from both tactical and job characteristic perspectives. Thus we are considering about implementing similar kind of actions in each class. However with the action recast, we are considering about giving a further look to see if 2 hours is an appropriate amount of time or not based on the average time spent on upcoming new contents such as dungeon content. This is because the image we are having with these strong actions is to allow the use only once during the challenge.

Something about NPC's:

活気あるNPCというのは確かに大切ですね。この点についてプロデューサーの吉田と話をしています。

現在の方針としては、この手の世界への彩りは是非ともやっていきたいことであるということでしたが、いかんせん優先度の問題で、現在はシステムまわりに人手がとられているため、なかなか手が付けられず……といった状態で吉田も嘆いていました。

そういうわけで今後も検討を継続していきますので、ご期待いただければと思います。

This thread is talking about the NPC and player's life interaction, to make the world of FF14 more colorful.

Yoshida agrees the necessity but there are many system-related tasks have higher priority and the resource is just not enough. So the dev will remember npc issue and do it when they have enough resource.

この点への対応が無事に完了したら、それを元に装備マクロの利便性向上などにも繋げていきたいという計画もあるようですので、今後の情報にご期待いただければと思います。

Good evening, this issue has been reported to Yoshida and UI leader Minagawa.
The memorization of skill set is a ongoing high-priority task. But the mod is related the kernel of the game program so needs lots of time. When they completed this task, UI team will go on to improve the usability of macro regarding to gear change. Your patience is appreciated.

Stop ********* PvP is just another (hopefully) fun thing to do. As long as you are not forced to do it why complain? Many of us just hate crafting and don't do it, and you don't see us whining that we want the same advantages a crafter has.

That's a good point, but PVP gear in many games is different than PVE gear. In WoW, the attributes afforded by good PVP gear are not desirable for endgame raid and dungeon content, because PVP fights and boss fights are very different animals. In PVP you need to focus on survivability, ability to hit targets, crowd control and mobility, while focusing little on preserving mana or sustained damage dealing. I don't think any good raiders use PVP gear in PVE situations. Presumably the same would be true in FFXIV, given it's starting to borrow from WoW in other ways.

It depends, since their main stance seems to be equality, so I doubt they would offer wildly different sets for PvP and PvE, but people would expect better gear for PvP per complaints about lack of rewards from XI's Ballista. Not to mention that's where the balance problems come in with PvP and PvE being in the same game and why the MMOs I played opted to have a PvE server and PvP server, because you're trying to balance two different beasts utilizing the same character, since Square would likely offer gear that has decent stats, but stats that are better suited for PvP, but if it works as an alternative to NM drop A and easier to get, generally you'll be forced into it if you want the easier to get alternative. It happened in XI and would likely happen in XIV, especially if the PvP system is even halfway decent.

Ok, you're talking straight out of your *** here. The difference between PVP and PVE servers in western MMOs is automatic flagging for open world PVP and voluntary flagging for open world PVP. There's still instanced, competitive PVP, which is where the PVP items come from. It's completely unrelated to the PVE content and items.

Moreover, there is a huge distinction between PVE and PVP items in western MMOs, and if SE had half a brain, they would do the same with FFXIV. PVP items are almost unusable in PVE, and vice versa.

You are not forced to do PVP in any of these games. PVP offers a completely separate character development path than PVE.

I refuse to believe you have played any of these games, or you would realize that what you're saying is wildly inaccurate. It's like you only spent 30 seconds speed reading through a game features list.

Where did I bring up "Western MMOs" that you keep going on about?

Not to mention:

Wolfums wrote:

That's the point. Striking the balance is where the problem comes in, which not every company has done perfectly yet.

Also:

Wolfums wrote:

I never mentioned Rift, WoW or Aion in my post, despite that I actually have played them but I clearly wasn't talking about those MMOs or I would have listed them, now wouldn't I? The MMOs that I currently play there IS a difference between PvP and PvE servers because the community is notably different on the server selection (PvP/PvE) because you clearly choose one or the other depending on what you want your focus.

Besides, it's not hard to see if you give players a good system they'll utilize it, especially if it's rewarding and a lot of MMOs, especially as of late, has been pushing the PvP/Faction vs Faction type of systems because it's a system players like and want, hence "becomes the ultimate focus."

Producer's Letter #8 Just Coming In.

http://goo.gl/f7nb4

In this letter Yoshi-P introduced the sub-teams of FF14 devs, and explain why most of important announce and devs comment are not implemented in nearest patch (its pretty basic from a programmer's eye.)

There are not much news but he says "Job System" for the first time. I guess it may refer to the rename from current class name to traditional FF jobs. Besides this, the Grand Company introduce page will go live tomorrow on lodestone.

TerraSonicX,

Well done. A great thread and you are clearly doing alot of work to keep it updated. I wanted to post a thread on the Official Forum Community Rep responses. Perhaps it would be best posted in here. It's not quite on par with Comments straight from the Dev Team. If you don't think it belongs here, I'll move this to it's own thread.

Edit: I went ahead and posted them separately. Thanks to everyone who is translating these Developer's comments!
