"As a result of continually decreasing server populations we have decided that a number of servers will be merged and that FFXIV will become a "free-to-play" game. After significant debate and weeks of research we believe that we have designed a modern, easy to use online store, based on the currently implemented Crysta Currency system. There will be a separate store for English, Japanese, German, and French players, linked to the current official message board. Once implemented, players will be able to purchase in-game items, as well as gift items to their friends. Soon to follow, will be a in-game version of the store, for quick access from any of the three current cities. We apologize for having to go down this path, but believe it is the best way to attract players and improve your experience in Eorzea."
It goes on to give some more details. but you get the main point.
Anyone else really upset about this? Its going to attract a bunch of noobs who are just giving the game a try. I really don't want this to end up like hello-kitty online.
Personally i think its a really horrible idea.
1. it means your real life wealth determines your in-game strength
2. ppl will quit if they can't afford to compete
3. noobs will flood in
4. people will join the game to troll or tell people to join rift
5. the game will prob have to become a lot less mature (no more brothels) incase kids play
I think its also unfair to those who have put significant effort into leveling up and amassing gil. The game will essentially turn into "who has the most real life money to spend". Also a lot of people have probably already guessed that this thread is an april fools joke. But im sure a lot are still going to rage at me for failing so hard.
Make sure to post your opinions :]
