My quick thoughts after 10 days in FFXIVFollow

One week into FFXIV and here are my quick thoughts

Really enjoying the game actually...but I do have some things I would like to see

Where is the Mog Houses? Seriously these need to be added ASAP...one of the best parts of FFXI (for me at least) was having a place online that was my own to do whatever in. I spent 100's of hours crafting, gardening w/e with that crazy moogle spinning.

Where the heck are the airships, chocobo's and moogles...3 things that make FF actually FF games are these things...and they are absent

Auction hall...I know they wanted to get away without but seriously as a new player not having one and having to learn the ward system is a huge turnoff...AH is a quick fix that would solve a lot of problems.

It would be really nice to be able to put up a party flag or search to see other players online or of your level.

I can't really coment on Content since I have had no trouble keeping busy (I'm super new)

Thanks...

the Wards are pretty dang close to being an AH. I don't really have a problem with them in their current state. An AH would allow me to buy an item about 15 seconds faster. In the big picture.... I don't really care about an AH at the moment lol.

Nitpick but as a new player to any mmorpg, you have to learn their systems in place unless everything is a copypaste job that the second you log in you know exactly what to do despite it being a different game -- also no, an AH is not a quick fix to solve a lot of problems, all it does is remove "the leg work" which in the case of an AH, would be browsing categories or searching.

Airships are flying around (they don't dock or land yet however), Chocobos are stationed in the city and they're still deciding what to do with them since they mentioned they'll be used differently this time around and moogles are a decent part of the Gridanian storyline.

Airships, Moogles, and Chocobos are there but you can't actually do a single meaningful thing with any of them. This game really doesn't feel much like a Final Fantasy, I hope they change that soon.

I'm sorry i should have articulated myself better about the airships and chocabos I was meaning about the lack of interaction with them.

The hard thing I find with the wards is that a lot of items don't seem to ever have been on sale, maybe its just the lack of understanding on how it works but I find it hard to find anything at all

The wards are tricky some of the categorization is intense mainly because crafting is more complex this time around vs FFXI. Also they have many sub categories rather then just "Hand" slot you have to worry about Gauntlet, glove, etc. which are in 4 different wards armorfitters vs. lower/middle/upper tailor wards. Its an issue with item organization and trust me you would not be any better off with an auction house with the same categorization.

at this point an AH would be a waste of development time, the wards work just fine.

I wish the wards were connected and that there was a mail system in place.

My main city is Gridania, with me being primarily a Carpenter, Botanist, Leatherworker, Archer and Lancer....and teh market wards there suck, hardly any selection for a lot of things, which means I had to hoof it over to Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa to have a better selection of gear and materials....which took a LONG freakin time.

After understanding how the wards work now, I honestly don't mind them so much, I just wish I could do a search for an item and if any one in any ward had it I could order it and have it sent to me via mail. This would improve the economy for everyone. Faster moving products with better access for the masses? Yes please.

This game is actually really good, albeit seriously slow moving compared to the other main stream MMO's out there. I'm enjoying it a lot after getting started back up about 2 weeks ago. Crafting takes forever and is a HUGE part of the game, and finding new recipes is kind of a pain in the ****, but there are plenty of online resources to help with that.

TheAnf, are you moving from city to city to look at wards in each of them? If not, I'm guessing you started in gridania. It's basicaly a ghost town. The only real attractions there are the guilds for different jobs. Other than that, there aren't any popular grinding levs to do in the region, which is why I think it's always pretty much empty. I started in gridania and I spend about 99.9% of my time in the surrounding area. If you want to have a better selection of stuff to buy from in the ward, go to Ul'dah.

Also, since you're new to the game, you may not see a lot of lower level items being sold. Most of the people playing the game are at least 30+ and so there really just isn't much of a demand for low level items. Also, with the way you can equip gear, people usually just purchase their rank 50 items and wear them until they hit 50. I myself am guilty of this... :( It's just cheaper to do it that way once you're high enough to make gil off leves only.

What server are you on? If you're on Mysidia, I'd be happy to come teach you the ropes.
