ACEN 2011 - FFXI/FFXIV PanelFollow

#1 Apr 05 2011 at 10:07 AM Rating: Excellent
Just got the news recently, the FFXI/FFXIV Panel has been approved for ACen 2011!

For those of you who do not know what ACen(AnimeCentral) is it is the mid-west anime and manga convention. It is being held in Rosemont, IL this year from May 20th - 22nd. Here is a link if you are interested in more information: http://www.acen.org/.

I will be one of three people on the panel, and this will be my first year doing this, so I am kinda nervous...lol. I will be almost solely responsible for the FFXIV part of the panel as the other two are returning panelists who handle all of the FFXI aspects.

Anywho...I was thinking of maybe trying to record the panel and posting it online, or at least posting some notes from the panel on ZAM from ACen. This will definitely be my most important FF project I have undertaken since I started playing FFXIV so wish me luck! I will try to provide more info as I learn it. ^^

Panel Info(Final Fantasy MMORPG Panel):
Tentative schedule: May 20th 6pm-8pm CST

I'm not sure I understand; do you compromise the panel that gives answers about FFXIV, or do you ask questions about FFXIV?

It would seem odd to have, well, just some person who plays the game be responsible for answers because, not being connected with SE in any official capacity, you wouldn't have access to any information that isn't available online already.

Or is this targeted at people who haven't been reading forums? Perhaps you can clarify. ^_^

It's kind of like an unofficial recruitment for FFXIV. I will provide information for how the game has changed, not just from updates, but from a players perspective. I will also answer questions about the game itself. And believe me I have been reading forum posts, databases, guides, etc... to increase my knowledge of the game beyond what I have personally done. Although I have played several characters on the side to try out specific aspects and gotten many jobs on other characters to Rank 30+ so I would have some more personal background for this.

I have a feeling that a lot of the people attending will not be FFXIV players, but most likely FFXI players who may or may not have been keeping up with FFXIV news or forums for that matter. Heck there might even be people there that have never even played a FF MMO or any other MMO for that matter.

So to be more brief, I will be answering questions about FFXIV, from what will most likely be uninformed/under-informed prospective players.

It should be an interesting experience for me. I am just hoping I don't embarrass myself. lol

Lets see how unbiased you are.

Random guy/gal shows up, and asks you point blank "I heard this game just BLOWS! Is it true?"

will you

A- laugh and say yes it pretty much sucks right now.
B- Tell him how it has slowly improved on the UI side of things, yet there still nothing to do
Or my personal favorite C- Tell him about the future, the potential, all while telling him how he will marry into money, so he does not has to worry about his 401K ?

He may do them in sequence, A, then B, then C, followed by D (escape through the back door exit)

yah don't give those boring PR answers.. "We are looking into that" "Passively answering questions, while not answering the question"

Exactly what one of the posters above me said. The good ol, Well in time this will happen and that will happen.

I'll also win the lottery and waste it on hookers and cocaine, but then win it all back by playing 1 hand of poker in Vegas, followed up by getting hit by a drunk driver after exiting the casino and become paralyzed without words to speak, and see an Ex girlfriend get out of her car, pick up my chips, and get back in her car, run over my spine to make sure I never recover, then have the ambulance pull up to save my life only to get hit by a police car, having their cars explode on collision, then have a the exhaust from the ambulance rip through my left eye socket and the exhaust of the police car through my right.
