I dont know what it is but already i feel like i want to explore new jobs i keep switching between characters becuase i cant settle on an actual job and i have this thing where certain races suit certain classes.

How lomg do you think it will take for new jobs to come around and how will these be obtained ? Through quests or meet certain requirements to unlock.

I realise there are other things needing fixed first but its something I'm hoping happens soon to keep mee in this game.

It's extremely unlikely there will be new jobs any time "soon."

My selfish answer would be that I don't wanna see new classes for some time. Mainly because I deleted one character and am still playing catch up with the new 1 = D

Less selfish answer is that I'd think they would wanna get through all these planned changes to the battle system & such before implementing new classes...

I wouldn't expect them until the ps3 launch at the earliest. That'll be their 2nd try at making a successful launch and they'll need something to entice not only the ps3 gamers, but also the PC gamers. I'd say they'll probably come in the form of an "expansion" or "expansion like" patch. They'll hopefully be advanced jobs with will require you to do some sort of quest to unlock them.

It seems everything is hinging on the new battle system. There's no way they're going to design and implement new classes just to have to rework them all over again.

We may see the new system in 1.17/1.17a but no confirmation yet.

Basically once everyone is satisfied with the core mechanics, then we'll see talk of new classes. Afterall, the current classes will technically be "new" under the new system depending on how things need to change as far as tactics and the like.

I wouldn't want to see any new classes until they make the current 5 DOW classes a bit more diverse.

The Dev team has to fix the issues that were there at launch before they start adding totally new content.

Main thing being the battle system, which they have said they are working on. This "probably" means that there will be no discussions revolving around new jobs until the battle system has been finalized.

Pretty sure it won't happen until the 1st expansion, which I'm pretty sure won't happen until they start charging, which won't happen until they fix the game enough to start attracting a lot of players.

I wanted a pet job at release, and since that didn't happen and likely wont for at least a year I decided to reactivate my FFXI account to play BST lol

It's pretty depressing how much time and resources they are having to use fixing stuff from launch instead of giving us stuff the game really needs. I mean, stuff as simple as airships and chocobos, do we have to wait until they completely fix everything else?

I wish to see a combat scythe class as soon as possible..! u.u

But this won't happen anytime soon because of other major fixes to improve the whole game.. I think we can expect new classes released at or after Ps3 release, as an incentive.. since the guns are already there, the presence of a "musketeer" class seems quite obvious to me..
