I just dont think having bigger marmots are that big of a deal, compared to fighting similar sized rodents in past FF games. That and its not like they have horrible models (not sure what you mean by cardboard). Everything is about the size something monstrous could be considered to be. I can see the complaints about just fixing effect size now and waiting till later to tackle animations, but going from really big monster rabbits and ladybugs to realistic sized, was strange in the first place.

I think he's referring to the fact that the marmot models are horribly done, so increasing their size just makes this fact pop out more.

I think in MMO's it's to add a more natural feel for the world. There would be rabbits and mice in fields on islands realistically.

While it is true that, realistically, mice and rabbits roam fields, I don't think armour-clad knights would be stomping them for high-level military training...

We're not military, we're "adventurers". And part of our adventure is maiming and mushing the life out of furry woodlands critters. Believe me, if every enemy was a demon/undead/horrid monstrosity the game wouldn't be as colorful or vivid, it would be gloom and gray fantasy.

I think the only concern is that larger sizes are generally reserved for increasingly difficult or notorious monsters later in the game. If you try to make things too "epic" in the beginning you aren't leaving yourself as much room for impression later on.

This is one area I think Rift is fialing in. Mobs are too "epic" right out the gate. This makes games fizzle out sooner than later when you aren't wowed (no pun intended) by what you encounter later on in the game.

All this to say, simply increasing the monsters size a little bit isn't exactly epic. So I think we are ok. Its just SE trying to get some cheap points.

What's irking me at the moment is that the last letter was on the 31st, so it's almost been 2 weeks since we've heard anything... wtf SE :\

You also forget what happened in Japan which caused delays and having to play catch up now -- there is the possibility that they're just too busy right now especially in the case of XIV, which I guess people won't believe unless they start releasing content daily.

I have a house in Japan, I've hardly forgotten. If they hadn't been the exact same way before the disaster, I wouldn't be saying anything.

If people don't believe that SE are working on something, then they (SE) need to re-evaluate how they communicate with the players. They're deliberately witholding info about the aspects of the game people are most curious about, and are instead giving us info about unexciting stuff like aggro-icons and enlarged spell/ability effects.

Hello everyone! We’d like to thank you for all of your feedback regarding your concerns.

We have discussed this matter with the development team. In regards to the size of magic and action effects, the current adjustments are just the beginning. The development team feels that more adjustments will be needed going forward. While they will not be implemented right away, we will continue to implement changes in the future.

You're making it sound like the whole nation sunk into the Pacific. With proper DR site & plans, the company should be able to rock and roll with minimum downtime. It's not unheard of of having a hot site or at least a warm site in a different time zone so the business can continue even if regional power might be an issue. The development side of the company would be a different story. Those employees would have to go to the hot/warm site to continue their work but of course it gets complicated with family.
