I've noticed that on some items such as Ironclad Bronze Buckler you have stats with * next to them and that they don't appear in game. I'm just curious where these come from, like are they found out by players through testing or some other means? I found it odd is all.

They're just leftover stats in the .dat files, YG shows them, but they're not actually utilized by the game.

Hohum, why even list them then? If this is true I would think it in the best interest of everyone to remove them from the database.

Edit: Also Eorzeapedia's wiki lists them as "Hidden Attributes".

Edit2: While I'm on the subject of item stats, what exactly do the stars next to the stats on +1 items mean in game? I see no change in the stats just those stars.

Well, the info is represented with asterisks on YG... YG is trying to imply to the users that the stats are "hidden in the DATs" not "hidden in the game" if that makes sense. But, I see a lot of people confused by this, so maybe there should be a filter for that info on YG.

Also, the stars from HQs give a 5% boost for each, and that boost is only applied to where the stars are, not any other stats like STR, VIT, etc.

A +3 has 3 stars, so it gives those stats a +15% boost. The higher ranked the weapon, the higher the base stats, so the bigger the boost. That's why HQ2/3 Crab Bows/Lances/Bhujs are highly sought after. For instance, Crab Bow's base Attack is 127, but the +3's version is 147. Who knows what that translates to damage wise, though; I've yet to see any thorough parsing for these things. I don't know anyone who cares enough with the current state of the game.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll be trying to resell that shield.
