This game is still crap after all the big changes planned and promised content, nearly six months and still nothing good in sight, is'nt it time they just call it a day and close this travesty and start on another final fantasy worthy of our time.

I'm pretty sure that they put in way too much money to pull out now. My thoughts are that when they rehash the mess, they'll launch an ad campaign trying to get people in, and pretend the first year in the game's life never happened.

Trolls are curious creatures. It's like they cling to things they dislike/hate like it's heroin, unable to let go but at the same time trying to get others to try another a "better" heroin. This isn't specifically to the OP, but just a general statement.

But to add an actual reply to the OP, overhauling the entire game ain't a quick fix. If you are such dire need to play FFXIV then do so. If not, then check the updates and play when something seems interesting. It's not like you are paying for anything so feel free to beta test with the rest of us fools. :)

The best we can do is to ignore FFXIV until a revision patch gets implemented. Now I remember before FFXIV came out during the beta times how much complaints and whines were spreading across the forums and all the saviors came in and said how it would all be fixed by launch. I find it funny actually because I was among the complainers haha. I had a realistic view and I knew nothing would be changed at launch since nothing was being addressed in the beta forums, just bunch of players explaining the broken battle system and SP system.

I'm grinding craft leves until game gets better.... dear god I hope it does. In my mindset I'm getting all my boring grinding out of the way before the game gets exciting. Even good mmos got times of boring grinding, I'm hoping I'm just getting it out of the way while the game sucks. When everythings good i'll dust off my blade and start killing again.

There can't be a Final Fantasy XV without a Final Fantasy XIV. Logically speaking, of course.

I love you man. You are the troll. You are a lemming that can't see past the Big Head mode of updates that FFXIV is doing. But the game is free (there is a reason for that) and saying how you are playing a Beta version of a game is great. But that is not how this game was presented to everyone at launch. So if this guy is ****** becasue of lack of content. He should be, eveyone should be.

If everyone stops playing maybe they will make more changes. That is more likley then everyone continuing to Beta Test.

I would be ****** about a lack of content if I knew that would fix the game -- that is not the case however.

Ironic, yes.
The real irony, however is that he's right nonetheless.

This is never the case, and a lot of businesses have gone under for thinking it. Everything they've done to this point is sunk, its gone, and its never coming back. Unless future revenues > future costs they should quit.

Its not like they can take down the game and say, "Hey, we'll have everything fixed in 12 months. Come back then!" For better or worse (and lets be honest, its lot more of the latter than the former), the game has already been released. People spent $60 a pop to be able to play.

So instead of shutting everything down, SE has wisely kept things running while giving players two updates a month. And players get to play for free (minus the $60 investment of buying the game).

What's SE supposed to do exactly? Shut down the servers while they fix everything? Release no updates at all until everything is where it should have been at release? They've opted for the lesser of all the evils.

its a hard question to answer, because I don't have an exact answer for them. what they should do, is a good job of fixing the game. I don't know exactly how they should do that, but I do know its not what they are doing now.

By that do you mean "they aren't doing a good job at fixing the game" or "they aren't doing a good job keeping the tiny stump of the playerbase informed about every twist and turn in the process of fixing the game?"

Because for latter I can agree, and to former nobody can say anything yet.

Sure I can. Its six months in, and the UI is slightly better (still give it a 6/10, but that's mainly due to a poor design), and they reduced some early grind. They've added a few additional short activities to do, and some NMs. So far their progress of improving the game is not going well. What they have in progress in house is completely irrelevant to how good a job they have done up to now. Today the game marginally better than when it was released.

Be more precise next time.

Further, what I say still applies. You don't know what they have done with the major features until they are implemented. And the time of implementation is irrelevant in the process of fixing the game, they could simply do it at the day of the PS3 release and the game would be fixed. The only purpose it serves is to, like I said, tell the tiny playerbase what they are doing at any given time.

To be honest, they should have given every FFXIV player free accounts on FFXI until they got their act together with FFXIV. They don't have to shutdown the servers or force players off, but FFS give everyone some free time on FFXI. At least you can keep some of the FFXIV player base in some type of FF product.

Once the game is up to a Final Fantasy standard, they can lure angry customers back to FFXIV with a free 3-month playtime.

This is probably the best thing they can do for themselves while they fix the game...it's like a buy-in beta.

People have to buy the game to get access to the game, so they at least have a LITTLE money coming in, and they have constant testing and retesting of content so they always know what to be working on and prioritizing.

If they are commited to making this game as good as it could be, keeping the servers up is the best thing they can do until then.
