Just a few items from the official forums in regard to Ishgard. It seems the battle system changes really are bottle-necking everything else.

To speak to the original post: Abriael is pretty much right on the nose. It was stated that while there isn't a firm timeframe to share, the implementation of Ishgard, and related content, will debut after the battle fixes are introduced.

While we understand your enthusiasm to see Ishgard-related content and the upcoming battle fixes, and I know some of you want an exact year/month/day/hour/minute/second, we unfortunately don't have to share at this time.

Hey everyone!

The reasoning behind it being planned after the battle system changes is because player’s wouldn’t be able to fully enjoy the content that will be introduced alongside Ishgard otherwise.

Well the only thing this gives us is that Ishgard will come with some battle related content then. Kill quests or something more?

It's getting pretty sunny in here and the snow has melted I wonder when this battle change is going to come as i've seen it to be promised to be during spring.

They make a good point; not much point releasing new content if the only ways to interact with it are rather lacklustre (to put it mildly).

We've seen enough of this game being rushed out the door before it was ready, haven't we? Far, far better to wait for lasting quality than having more crap shoveled in our laps.

I have a feeling we'll see 1.17a late next week with more Company stuff then the "major update" around May 13 with the battle system changes and more.

It's just a hunch, but I'm guessing those times as they'll want enough time for bug fixes to be ready to show the "new and improved" XIV at E3. That'd be what I'd do anyway. It'd be a good time to generate a few more box sales while the game still is "free." Then a "we're going to charge you now so here's yet another major update" near the end of July.

Just a hunch, lol.

I don't think they are going to bother with any major gaming event. Especially during the Summer. What could they advertise during E3? The battle system is a ******* child of the old and new concepts during that time, that's not really something I would proudly present to the masses. I don't think "promises" of overhauls are going to be of any use either. They should just wait until the game is fixed and then start campaigning for it.

I see your point, and it really could go either way.

They could wait till TGS to lift the veil on it again, but Fall is AAA season, which hardly is the time to be pushing a year old MMO. Modern Warfare 3, Oblivion: Skyrim and Arkham City already are on the slate. Swaying the opinion of the general public is going to be a matter of timing.

I really think it would serve them best to have a presence at E3. Not only are summer releases schedules always bland, but it's a time of the year when folks would be willing to plunk down $50 to waste some time on an MMO.

I really think that's the reasoning behind the emphasis on these battle changes coming in Spring. Have Companies and fun combat for E3 and entice people withthings like the unveiling of Ishgard and even more dungeons and NMs.

In the end, it really just boils down to how much content equates a "major" update. 1.17 was teeming with stuff and it was only 70% of what was intended to be a filler patch. This battle system update will open the flood gates, so to speak, and likely free up some resources in house.

The Second Players Poll results dealt a lot with that. Another thing that has been mentioned is the likelihood of auto-attack.
