is there a command to select the target that my party member is engaged with? or do you just have to spam tab and eyeball it manually @@

No /assist command so far as I know but hitting the F8 key will target the nearest NPC target in your view if that helps you out some :D

I wonder if /target <bt> still works for you otherwise?

But that's probably not included into the game either ~.~

Same.

As of now, (with the idea that the game has been out for the better portion of a year now), I am livid about this. I understand that Yoshi-P and Co. have to reset things that have already been made. I understand that it takes time to code things, and to test them... But so far, all of the "fixes" have been lack-luster. It's difficult to feel good about anything in the game anymore when every patch has been just short of what was really needed.

At this point, the class-overhaul needs to be spectacular. They need to re-re-re-address the targeting system. It isn't good. I hope they know that, and are still working on it. But for now, the idea that we have two ****** ways to target something, and we get to choose which one sucks less.... that needs to go. I can't believe that targeting, (which is something basic to many MMOs), is this big of a problem.

I've always had a problem with targeting, even solo.

I haven't played for a few months but read in one of the updates that "/autolockon on/off" should make you automatically target any enemies in a leve group that are attacking you.

I've started playing again and I can't say it works, I still have to manually pick and lock on to the next enemy after defeating one. Which is troublesome when other mobs are about.

Is it not working yet or am I doing something wrong?

I basically disinterested in playing until targeting is improved.

As far as I remember, the auto lock-on feature was included in the first 'major' patch (1.07?): http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/topics/detail?id=159e4a58b58fd0214620ec8d64ddd138d5ab599e

When engaging multiple enemies, a player now automatically targets the next enemy when one has been defeated.

However, players found out that the feature wasn't always working as intended, in that the auto-select could target another enemy close to you that was not part of your leve/claimed mob, and so SE disabled it with a patch a week or so later: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/news/detail?newsId=0a94294dae71205d1d8ddb87829e22b5634dc686

This is a temporary measure for handling an issue that occurs when the target changes automatically. When the issue is addressed, the functionality will be updated.

They haven't reimplemented it back yet, and this was in November...as it is, I just spam F8 or the right trigger key on my Xbox controller.

Perhaps another feature SE need to re-look at it was the exclusive targeting-switch option with controllers...
